View Full Version : Do you really feel pregnant?

I still have morning sickness off and on, and the same with sore boobs, and bloating, but otherwise I have a hard time believing there is actually a growing baby in there. (I get worried, too..... :eyesroll ) The only tummy I have is the flab I had before I got pg, lol.

During my first pregnancy, I felt my uterus expanding much more. I am guessing that it is already bigger, so I don't have as many stretching pains.

So do you guys "feel" pregnant, apart from the m/s?

Well, I was nauseous on and off, and SUPER tired. Then the past few days, no nausea and not quite so sleepy. It has me pretty worried, esp since I KNOW there were a few times about 1.5 weeks ago where when I'd lie down for bed I felt a bumpthump type feeling. And haven't felt that since. Obviously 11 weeks is too early to be counting movements, but you know... gotta have something to worry about, right??

Thanks for posting this because I have been really worried about it, too. I have never had any m/s, I might be slightly bigger but still can easily wear regular clothes- definitely not growing steadily. In fact several people have said I look like I've lost weight (which I haven't) I was tired and foggy to the extreme and that is a little better. My boobs are horribly sore though and seem engorged so that is a good sign!

I hate to complain b/c I know that others feel really awful, but it is worrisome. Maybe like Mindy said, I'm just not noticing the growth b/c my stomach is already stretched out from before! But I always heard that the 2nd and subsequent times, you get huge right away and that was what I was expecing!

I just remember last time, I told my coworkers around 11 weeks (what I am now) and I had been doing the rubber band trick on my pants for a while by then and was having a hard time hiding it. At this rate, I won't need to tell anyone till I'm near to delivery!!

I still haven't told anyone except our parents and one friend- I just don't feel right doing it till I hear the heartbeat.

the past couple days i have totally felt pregnant. i guess things are starting to stretch in my lower abdomen. i can consciously feel the growth there. it's so weird. of course, the exhaustion and sore boobs and heartburn and nausea are getting way better. today starts week 12 for me! woo-hoo!

I have that stretchity feeling in my belly, too. I'm at about twelve weeks... looking forward to the second trimester, woohoo! I am definately feeling pregnant:) Hearing the heart and seeing baby move around really cinched it for me. I walk around with my hand on my belly a lot:) The queasy and tired feelings have faded so except for the hunger, and the growing feeling in my belly, the pregnant feelings are all mental.

It still seems so shocking though... in six months I'm going to have a baby! We're going to be parents!! How did that happen?!? (Ok I know how it happened but still;) I'm just in awe about the whole thing but it is feeling more and more real as time goes on.

Heh, it's funny that you posted this today. I'm actually starting to doubt that I AM pregnant. My only sign of pregnancy has been the positive home pregnancy test, and a week of morning sickness. For the past month, I've felt nothing. No queaziness, no soreness, no cramping....nothing. I remember when I was this far along last time, I had been doing the rubber band thing for a few weeks, and was already wearing my first pair of maternity pants on "bloatier" days. Last time, my morning sickness lasted until 15ish weeks. This time, it ended almost as soon as it began. I was sick for maybe a week.

Considering that I still haven't heard the baby's heartbeat, and they didn't do a pregnancy test at my doctor appointment, I have no guarantee that there's even a baby in there. If I was having symptoms, at least it would feel a little more real. The way things are now, I'm starting to worry that I hallucinated that plus sign on the test. :(

i'm sorry you're worried. is there anything you can do to help reassure yourself? maybe take another test? at least you will likely be able to hear the heartbeat at the next appointment, right?

almostfey - i know exactly how you feel! the sonogram was amazing, and i'm also walking around with my hand on my little pooch all the time. i can't beleive we are gonna have a baby! we're finally gonna be parents! ending the 1st trimester will be so great, too. the last day of this trimester is thanksgiving. how great is that?

Nikki-

I feel exactly the same way! Except I'm tired, which is normal for me. I did have an ultrasound that showed the baby and a good strong heartbeat, but that is my only proof. Granted, it's pretty good proof, but I keep thinking something went wrong because I don't have symptoms.

I can't wait to be able to pick up the baby's hb with my doppler. Hopefully soon I will be able to do that and I'll stop worrying so much.

Yea! I read this thread a few weeks ago and couldnt contribute much bc all i felt was sore stomach muscles from vomiting so much...thats subsiding a bit and Im feeling better...tired but better.

What I am notcing now is my swollen belly l :D I LOVE it!!!!! Wearing ordinary clothing, I have this definate bump that is unmistakable...and so far it seems to be very low as opposed to higher like I had with DD. Also, I am almost 12 weeks so I know its too early, but i keep feeling these bump-a-lump stuff everynight when I am laying down....and when DH rubs my belly it begins as well. If everyone didnt keep saying thats impossible, I would be swearing that Im feeling movement. I can dream yes? :)

marsupial - i bet you are feeling it. when we had the sonogram the baby was totally kicking and flailing his arms and moving. a 2 inch baby doing that i bet could be felt in some cases. i don't feel anything yet, but i have no doubt you could be feeling it this early on after seeing the show our baby put on. i'm jealous! maybe the walls or your uterus are more sensitive than most people's. did you feel movements early on with your previous pregnancy? thy say women usually feel it sooner with subsequent pregnancy than with their first, but only because then they know what it is they are feeling - not because it didn't happen that early before.

Marsupial, I felt movements WAY early with my first babe. My OB just laughed at me and told me I didn't know what I was feeling. That should have been enough to send me running, her mocking me and acting like she knew my body better than I did from the 7 min. she'd seen me. Oops... rant over. But I felt it with #1 at like 11-13 weeks? I was super thin, too... not sure that had anything to do with it.
