It was quite a bit of spotting actually- bright red tinged in mucous. I have been pretty constipated for the last few weeks. Have not been straining, but it's still painful to come out :shy
Anyways, as I was wiping, I saw blood too. At first I thought it was from my rectum, but then realized it wasn't. I started shaking because of the amount and color.
A few minutes later, ob office just happens to call to get background info. before my appt. on Monday. She told me that spotting alone isn't a cause for alarm, but to take it easy, drink lots of fluids and pay attention- if I got any cramping or the bleeding got worse to call them.
I wiped a few more times within the next 30 minutes or so and there was still a little bit, but I had to kind of press up with the toilet paper. I put a pad and and several hours later, when I went to the bathroom there was a little brown-tinged mucous. And same thing when I went to the bathroom later.
No blood this morning, but I am so afraid to poop! :shy
Anyone else had quite a bit of spotting but no cramps? I'm trying not to freak out here.

I had some spotting at four or five weeks but it wasn't red. It was pinkish colored goo, and I was terrified. I called the doctor and they told me if it wasn't bright red or accompanied by cramps, it shouldn't be anything to worry about. Still, I worried constantly until I heard the heartbeat. I think in retrospect it might've been when the embryo broke back through the uterine lining after implantation.. but that's just suppostion. They told me spotting is very common in early pregnancy. So while my experience was not quite like yours I know how frightening it is and want to send you some hugs! Try to take it easy.

Thanks :) The thing is I'm 9-10 weeks- my due date is 6/17. If it was earlier on, I wouldn't be so nervous. I mean, after thinking about it, it wasn't *bright* red, but it was very pink- but at least there were no clots- it was just mixed with mucous.
My first ob appt. is coming up on Monday- she said they will do an ultrasound and take measurements to find out my exact due date (since my periods were so irregular- I had one every month, but when they started varied). I think I'll feel better once I see where the babe implanted. I have a heart-shaped uterus and my first miscarriage was due to implanting on the septum wall. If this one is implanted in a good spot I'll feel SO much better!

Lorrie,
If you are really worried, can you call back and tell them so and ask for an ultrasound today? That way you don't need to wait through the weekend. I'm sure everything is fine, but if it would ease your mind and get you through the weekend, then I think it's worth it to go in today or tomorrow.
Let us know how things are going, ok?

Kathy,
As long as there is no more spotting, I'll try to wait it out until Monday. If there is anymore blood then I will call asap! Thanks :love

Lorrie, with my first pregnancy I had BRIGHT RED bleeding for about 30min. or an hour around 10-12 weeks. OF course, I knew nothing about anything and just went to ER, got an internal exam and an U/S and bloodwork. Everything was fine and they never knew what caused it. ??

Thank you so much for sharing that Davina! It makes me feel a lot better knowing it's happened to someone else! Glad to hear the baby was ok :)

Me, too
I had spotting on Tues. and today. Tues it was bright red, then brownish mucus. Today it was a gush of very pink liquid. And of course I was wearing white pants at work and I had to run out of there and go home and change (good thing I live close by).
So even though I know it's normal I called the mw- they'll see me tomorrow to check the heartbeat- they would have seen me today but I really had to go back to work and it wasn't an emergency.
I haven't heard the hb at all yet so it'll be my first time...and my first time of many bringing my 2 yo with me alone to appointments!! That is what I am more worried about!

Hope everything's all right Mary! I haven't had anymore spotting since that incident. Well I had some mucous with a string of light brown in it this morning in the shower, but no more fresh blood.
Can't wait until my appt. on Monday!
