When I told my Mom the baby's heartrate of 136 bpm, she said that it's probably a boy. I looked up baby heartrates online and found a site that said, "Under 140, is a boy and over 140 is a girl". Does anyone else know anything about this?

I'm such a skeptic - I don't buy into the heartrate predicting gender theory (or any of the old wives' tales with gender prediction).

I too am skeptic. I laughed at her and told her the baby was only 7 weeks old.

Well, I remember with both of my boys their heartrates were way above 140, so can't be true for everyone. :)

it's based on the fact that in general boys heartrates run lower than girls (or was it the other way around?) but you certainly cannot tell with any particular pregnancy if it's a boy or a girl based on heartrate.

our's was 138 then 160

I read that they did a study on this, and found out that it was about as accurate as the Draino test ;) That said, my baby's HB was 155....another girl? lol

My ob even suggested that, so me having a thing about ob's, I totally don't believe it lol!!
Not only that, but she was predicting girl according to the heart rate and my son is definitely a boy :)

I can't remember with my first two but #3 and this baby are both girls and their heartbeats are in the 150s. That said I don't buy it as an indicator at all. I've known many women whose boys heartbeats were in the 150s as well and girls below that mark. I've also read the rumor as the reverse where a high heartbeat is a boy and low is girl. It all depends on who you're asking. :LOL
