Hello mamas! I'm writing to put a question to all of you to help me make a decision about this board. So please do share your thoughts.

How would you feel about posting PPD issues in the Health and Healing board? Would that be, in your opinion, an equally acceptable forum for you to discuss PPD issues?

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts with me.

Hmmm.... I know this board isn't incredibly active, and I'm thinking that's why you might be considering combining it with Health & Healing? I think that PPD is a sensitive topic for some, and that some women may feel more comfortable 'coming out' about it in a forum reserved for PPD. That's just my initial response, though - I'll keep thinking about it.

Cynthia,

Would it have it's own subforum?

It's a possibility. Something we could consider if the members feel it needs to have a place of it's own.

I'd be comfortable with it, and maybe there would be more dialogue about it.

But I know some people have a harder time talking about it and might need a separate space to be comfortable.

You make a good point, asherah. I have at times wondered why there is not much action in this forum, when sooooo many of us have experienced PPD. I will read in someone's post in another forum something like, "Well, when I had PPD..." and wonder why I've never seen her post here. Maybe while some women would feel inhibited to post in a wider/not specifically PPD forum, others feel inhibited to post here!

I think it's worth trying. Would there be the option of returning to this format if it didn't work for some reason?

We can bring the board back to it's own single board status if we see there's a strong need for it. I'm going to move the board over to Health and Healing and see how things go. Thanks for your input everyone!

I'll be making the transfer of this forum into the Health and Healing board later today.

In some categories, like this one, it is good to get replies from mamas who are not currently suffering...in others you want the companionship of those with experience (like homeschooling, etc.) I think when a mama is suffering with post partum depression she would find this forum for posting, but may not be as visible to those who could give good support. I think health and healing is appropriate. Sounds like you've already made your decision anyway.

What about a broader category for the very beginning (like "getting started and overcoming difficulties" in Breastfeeding)

Hi Cindi and thanks for your reply

Actually I had last minute cold feet over moving the forum to Health and Healing. Ms. Mom suggested we incorporate it into Life with a Babe and I think that sounds like a good idea. :) It's a busy forum so will get the attention of moms who might not otherwise have visited the PPD forum. And that would equal more support and encouragement.

So I'll do that today (I hope! :p )

Best wishes!

That sounds like a great idea! I think the 'babe' forum is a much better place for it than health & healing - good thinking!
