Kaiser requires it! Before they've even done a u/s to figure out how far along I am. Is that weird? It seems REALLY weird to me. And I don't have to fast for this one. Just go into the lab, drink the goop and wait an hour. Ugh.
And fyi, I'm not diabetic or anything.

I hope you don't mind me butting in here. I just saw the title and yes, with my second babe i had the test in the first tri. This was not the case with my first so I think it is a recent development. In my case it was because my Dad is diabetic and the docs told me it was showing up earlier. I am sure it has something to do with law suits from what my doctor told me.

Well, my Dad is diabetic and so is my nephew, so maybe that's why?
Anyway, I got the typical yucky orange soda junk. Blech. I hate orange soda anyway. At least I had my seabands on to keep me from puking it right back up! :LOL
Turns out, if my blood sugar is high, I'll have to do a second test where I have to fast before hand, drink twice as much of the bug juice, and then wait THREE HOURS! Yikes. But since I eat a low carb diet anyway, I'm not really concerned.

Yep, I did with my first but that's because I was having some blood sugar problems before I became pregnant. Had to take the test on my birthday--spent the whole day feeling terrible. Yuck!! Good luck to you--I do know that some doctors will give you a special meal to eat instead of having to drink the stuff.

I don't get why they would make you do that. What would happen if you refused? Not saying you should, just curious. I hate Kaiser and don't get that whole managed care thing. If you say no to the test what does Kaiser do?
