I've enjoyed our trip and our first week here! just as a recap -

I'm Liz(24) momma to Inac(25m) and wife to Jack(40)
I am a SHAM and still BF my son. We have transplanted from Mpls, MN to Kissimmee, FL. We're right on 192, 6.7miles from I-4 in the Alexan @ Legacey Dunes.

I lived in Apopka from April 1985 to Dec. 10th, 1990. So this is a home comming twelve years in the making. Last week we went back to my old neighborhood and it's the same but the environment is alot different as an adult. I don't think we'll be moving there as we had planned earlier. We'll be looking for houses in Lake Mary, and Alt. Springs.

oops gotta go nap time for little man.
bye lizzie

Welcome back! I grew up in Tallahassee, moved to the Keys, then moved to Ocala , and am now back in the Keys. I prefer South FLorida most of the time :)

Hope you blend right back in~

Peace

Yippee! I'm a friend of Liz's (the thread starter) and she's fabulous!

I was checking this tribal area as we plan on moving to the lower keys next year, so I'm glad to know there's at least one like-minded mama there!

The lower keys is much more like-minded than up here. I am in Islamorada which is 90 miles from Key West.

GOod luck with the move and keep us posted!

I'm right around the corner from you (well, almost). We live 1 mi off of 192 on Hwy 27 (towards Clermont). Welcome. We moved here from Madison, WI in May. I have yet to meet many other mommies (I know one who lives in Celebration). I have been hoping to find a playgroup. We are generally very social people but we feel like recluses now.

Ladies - see my Tampa Bay post if you will. I'm still freezing here in Minnesota. How has your transition been? Tell me about the Keys! We fell in love w/the west coast of FL last spring, so that's what we're thinking about, but I would love to know more about the Keys too! Other than the obvious, what kinds of things are available for children? What drew you there? What is the cost of living compared to Mpls. or the Wisconsin area (we are just outside the Mpls. metro area currently, but were 10 years in the city)? Thanks!

Hi there!
Well, it's freezing here in MN, but we may be moving to Key West / Big Pine Key this summer. My DH has a job interview in Key West in 2 weeks!!!

Granola Girl - as far as I can tell from the real estate listings, housing is really, really expensive in the Keys, even compared to the Twin Cities. There are very few houses under $300,000 between Big Pine Key (about 35 miles from Key West) and Key West.

But it's a beautiful place. My parents spend part of each winter there (have been doing so since I was wee babe) and it has changed over the years, but it still a very artsy place.

Sara Mama,

Just as I suspected. That's okay. If I get to Florida it will be amazing in its own right and the keys will be a great place to visit. Good luck to you and your husband. I didn't think you were still here tho. ? Yes, its cold... but it's March... we're closer at least. :)

thanks Granola Girl - we are still in MN -- yes, winter's winding down, but at 6 months pg, I'm way tired of black, gray and otherwise neutral maternity clothes!!:D
