View Full Version : Hey, girls, are we in for a miserable summer?
RiceMomma 12-11-2004, 06:52 AM Due in August??? I've always said I would never want to have a baby in August- I was hot enough with my first in May. This going to be a miserable summer. What measures are you all planning to take to stay cool and comfortable?
rainbowmoon 12-11-2004, 07:40 AM well personally I can't wait. I love being big and I love the heat!
the swelling on the otherhand I can do without :LOL
RaggedyAnn 12-11-2004, 07:50 AM I vowed after my having my dd that I would never be big and pregnant during the summer again. Never say never. LOL I was so torned if I should stop ttc or not. Here in Texas our summer lasts forever. I just went with it and here I am pregnant and expected to deliver in August. LOL
Kaitnbugsmom 12-11-2004, 07:54 AM Not much. Lightweight clothes, lots of time in the pool or the A/C, and a pony tail holder everywhere I turn...
Both my girls are February babies though, and I have a feeling I may have to revise my plans..
ChiroWife 12-11-2004, 10:44 AM DD was born August 17th so I am used to the summer. ;) I thought it was great. Cute tanks and shorts, flip-flops, an excuse to turn down the AC, and swimming. I loved it. :D
RiceMomma 12-11-2004, 02:13 PM Aw, yes. The swimming pool. I have the feeling we will be there a ton this summer, too. My kids love to water and could stay there all day. That should keep us all happy, hopefully.
darsmama 12-11-2004, 04:23 PM This is 2 summers in a row I'll be hugely preg. With AC and a pool...I'll be ok
CrunchyClark 12-12-2004, 12:54 PM I've had one summer baby and one winter baby. I didn't prefer one over the other. Course, I'm in Montana and even summer isn't 'super' hot here. We'll just be getting hot end of July, so I should be pretty 'safe'. We don't even have air conditioning units in most homes because it just doesn't get that hot for more than a few weeks. I may feel differently next summer. I'm planning on 'maybe' getting a unit for our bedroom if it looks like I'm going to be too hot. That's the only time that it really annoys me, is when I cannot sleep because I'm too hot.
We also have a full basement which is where my office, family room, school area, laundry room are. We spend probably 50% of our inside time down there anyway!
Abylite 12-17-2004, 12:40 PM I'm personally looking forward to having a huge belly in the summer...sunning my belly with one of those two piece bathing suits with the fabric that loosely hangs over the belly.
Also don't mind a LEO baby like me :)
and....I teach and have the summer "off" so it's perfect to rest up when I'm nice and big!!!
umbrella 12-19-2004, 11:36 AM My first was born in August in Georgia. I was not happy that she was "late" :)
However, we've moving to the tropics, where it's just freaking hot year round, so having another August baby really won't make any difference to me.
Fisherb 12-20-2004, 09:36 PM I hadn't given this one ounce of thought until this thread... DS was born in December, so I didn't have to worry much.
Guess I can hope for a mild summer at this point, and be glad that it doesn't get too hot here (90 is REALLY hot here), and we have a window a/c we can pop in if there's a heat wave.
