Monday, September 2 at Ala Moana Park, near McCoy Pavilion (look for our signs).

Games and such starting at 10 am. Potluck lunch to follow. (Bring something to share and your families picnic gear. And don't forget beach stuff!) Our special guests are Marjie and Jay Hathaway, founders and executive directors of the American Academy of Husband Coached Child Birth!

We would love to see everyone who has had a Bradley Birth and anyone who is interested in the Bradley Method.

Any questions? Post here or PM me.

Edited because I'm a knucklehead and Labor Day is not the 1st, it's the 2nd!

The picnic was awesome. Babies and toddlers and kids all over, slings and breastfeeding everywhere ya looked. It was cool. There was a ton of great food and we heard some really super birth stories. Marjie and Jay Hathaway spoke briefly about how they came to found the Academy. I saw a couple of moms who post here and their sweet babies. I met a bunch of other Bradley families. All in all a fantastic way to spend Labor Day!

I am from Hawaii but just moved back after 4 years in Seattle. I had a hospital birth but there are many things about it I wish I could change. I am very much interested in Bradley for future children.

Cool! We have some great instructors here and I am still working on getting certified.

Hey Kama'aina and Mom2Noah. We took a Bradley class here with Stephanie Capllanch (sp?) for the birth of our baby Ethan. I have to admit I didn't make it all the way but I did go 10 out of 13 hours without any pain meds so I'm happy about that. Actually no one in our class had a completely unmedicated birth although two moms who were induced with pitocin did not need pain meds also. I sure hope I get another chance.

I love Stephanie! Her sis is our local La Leche leader. I call them the AP cosa nostra. Have I met you at LLL? If not, looking forward to meeting you on Weds!

Can you give me some info on LLL? What time and where is it located? I'd like to start attending.

Are you coming to the gathering next Weds? I can bring you a flyer. We meet 4th Weds of every month at 10 am on windward side in Kaneohe.

mom2noah,
you should definitely go to LLL. It's a great group! Stephanie is often there, and like Kama said - her sister leads. I don't know many people on Oahu, and I would die of loneliness without that group. (which is sad because they only meet once a month)

My mom had me using the Bradley method, and I took bradley classes with my first baby. It was great. There were so many parenting ideas I never woull have had the courage to try or even had known about if it wasn't for my Bradley instructor.

See you Wed!

I've been trying to go to the LLL meeting since I had Ethan. I have it set in my Yahoo calendar to remind me. I didn't know Stephanie goes. It would be so fun to see her there. We had our class reunion a few weeks ago and everyone was breastfeeding. That was so wonderful to see. I hate to admit it but so far I haven't been able to get up and ready that early. How pitiful is that? I think I'm going to try taking baths with the door cracked in the morning while Ethan is still sleeping. That way, if he wakes up, I will hear him. I'm going to try harder to come this month. I need to get out and have contact with more bf Mom's. Almost everyone I meet uses formula and everyone asks when I'm going to start giving Ethan bottles so I can get out more. I just tell them I don't feel the need.

Just wanted to say that i was at the reunion in 2002. I had the best time with dh and dd. She was barely 5 months. I have had two NCB using the bradley method. Our instructor was dora baldwin. When dh comes home for good i am going to get certified. I was actually trying to finish school and get my masters degree because i have always wanted to be a CNM. But being a full time sahm is my first priority. I will finish some day! In the meantime i will teach bradley. No teacher over here on this side. :)
