I know many of you are probably worrying about things along this line- since it's the first trimester.

I've been spotting off and on since I found out the was pregnant- actually, since before- that's what tipped me off that I might be pregnant. MY doctor checked my hormones and my progesterone was low, so they gave me some to take, and the spotting stopped. Well, this week, my kids have been sick, and so have I, plus I haven't been getting any sleep since the kids are up all night, and my husband is never home since it's finals week (but after that, he's totally done!!!), and I've been running around, not eating or drinking enough, ect... Forgot to take my progesterone.

Last night, I was making dinner and felt a gush. I drank a bunch of water, ate something and tried to rest as much as I could, and took my progesterone. But this morning, I was still spotting, so I got a hold of a midwife, and she suggested some herbs, plus lots of rest. The spotting has pretty much stopped now. The doc will test my hormones again on Friday.

I will never forget to take my progesterone again. It's so darn hard to take care of myself when I have others to take care of too.

I'm sorry to hear you're bleeding, MamaFern. It's so disapointing! Have you considered getting in touch with a midwife for advice? Since I knew this was a big risk with my pregnancy, I have been doing some research about miscarriage prevantion- I'm going to tell you a little about it here, but I apologize if you already know this.

If the fetus is otherwise healthy there are a number of things you can do to prevent miscarriage. I love the book "The Natural Pregnancy Book" by Aviva Jill Romm (I'm a huge fan of hers- she's so awesome!) She recommends to avoid cold temperature foods, like icecream or juice right from the fridge, and cold natured foods, like fruits out of season or out of your climate. She said eating warm foods like soups and cream-of-wheat type stuff will discourage miscarriage. She says Vitamin E will strengthen the bond of the fetus to the uterus, and Vitamin C strengthens the capillary bed of the lining of the uterus. Of course, proper nutrition is very important. There are also herbs you can take to help prevent miscarriage. I have been doing these things, and I really think with how much I've been bleeding, I would have miscarried by now with these preventative measures. I think the herbs really help. Can you go to your doc to get your hormone levels checked? As long as your HCG level is increasing, your baby is growing. Please feel free to PM me if you need any more info, and forgive me for going on and on if you don't!

Take care.

I just wanted to offer some prayers and hugs to you....I can relate. So far so good with this pregnancy- I'm on progesterone due to 2 m/c and scared...but also trying my hardest to trust.

:hug , MamaFern. I'm so sorry.

Yesterday I had my HCG level checked again, and it's gone way down. I'll probably be miscarrying too here soon.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. Having a miscarrge can be so hard. Have you checked out the pregnancy and birth loss forum? The ladies over there are amazing. I received so much support when I had a m/c over the summer. :hugs you and your family will be in my thoughts.
