haha! i tried to start a vegan/veganish mama thread a while ago to no avail. just a minute ago i started a hapa mama thread. we'll see where that goes. my mom is from taiwan so i am half chinese. i used to be reallyreallyreallyreally vegan (like no movies and no sugar and no film, etc.) but now i am not, im not technically vegan since i eat honey if its in things. so im almost vegan and kind of chinese. ;) what about you?

nak technically I shouldn't even answer . . . but I was dairy/meat /egg free for about 10 yrs. Started eating eggs (free range only) in pregnancy cause I was craving them. My birth dad was Chinese, but I haven't found him yet. I was adopted into a non-asian family.

But I would definitely like to connect with vegan moms, dd is 4 mos. and I'm already anticipating issues. I think this in itself is a good reason to homeschool, but dh wants to public school. mil was asking about what we're going to do about social events etc the other day. I just don't even know. She kept saying "If you do x then she'll rebel . . ." as if it's just some kind of control issue. I don't think it has ever occurred to her that the health risks that go with dairy are REAL, I didn't just make them up! I mean, if she wants to torture animals when she's old enough to make that decision for herself, I guess that's her choice, but I don't know when it's appropriate for her to make that decision. There's so much social pressure everywhere.

And mil's one of the nice people around here, we live in cattle country and people are very threatened by vegetarians.
