We recently moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City. I stay home with my 3 1/2 yr old daughter and 1 1/2 year old son. I am hoping to meet other mothers with young children in this area. Is anyone out there?

Hiya!
I'm JoAnn, and I'm a SAHM in NW OKC. My kiddos are 21 months, 4, 7, 10, and 12 years old. I have lived here for 13+ years, but find it hard to find "community" here. I have tried to get involved in things, but having a large family makes it harder, I think. I'm a retired LLL Leader, and wish I could find something besides LLL to find likeminded moms/families.
:: sigh ::
But welcome! Where did you move from?

Oops, I meant, where in SEATTLE? Sorry! I have friends in WA, and wondered which part you're from.
Duh. ;)

I live in Guthrie, but we (DH & I) work, church, friend, etc. in Edmond. Where abouts do you live? North? South?
Though not always 'like-minded,' we have a great community at our church. Met my two best friends there, and have several acquaintances that we run around with also. Most have kids about my DD's age.

I am not in OKC, I live in Perkins (about an hour from OKC) near Stillwater. Just wanted to welcome you to Oklahoma - I am an Oklahoma native and have lived here all my life. I hope you like it here!!

So, I meant to ask -- what church?? We go to church in Edmond, too....St. John's.

Hi! Just posting because I just now found this "local tribe".
Welcome to OKC! (albeit a bit belated!)
I live in Edmond and had a waterbirth at home three weeks ago. (baby girl) We also have an 18 month old boy and a 9 year old girl. We homeschool. It has been hard to find like-minded friends!
Does anyone from here ever get together?!
Hi everyone,
I live in Edmond, but am not a mother yet. I moved here from Los Angeles 4 years ago due to family living here & in Guthrie.
Tapmilkmom I am very interested in having a waterbirth at home & would love to hear more about yours.
I have a feeling there are more likeminded women/families in Oklahoma & have started to think about how to find them :)

I'm in Norman. I'm not a mom yet, but we're expecting our little boy in December. It's nice to see some other people in Oklahoma aren't so "old school" and have a more "baby friendly" approach to parenting. Most people I know are fond of the CIO routine, etc. :(

There are actually a lot of us in OK, you just have to know where to look! The La Leche Legue and API meetings in Norman are great, and I'm sure they are good in the city too. Welcome to Oklahoma!

I'm up here in Cherokee (NW corner of the state). We moved here last year from Spokane...what's up with this Washington migration? We moved out here and about two months later, four families from Spokane moved out here, just south of us. Weird.
Anywho, I was expecting a lot of anti-AP around here, but they're incredibly BF/cosleeping/attention-giving up here to kids (at least the ones I've come in contact with)...and my neighbor has kids the same age as mine and is into babywearing and extended nursing too! So while you may find a few like-minded people on these boards, I recommend getting to your local LLL and getting involved with your library or even hanging out in your local health food store...there's more of us IRL than you may realize! :D

I'm in OKC too, well Norman for another 2 weeks! :) Welcome to the area! My best friend just moved from here to Seattle in June with his boyfriend-I liked it up there, but missed Oklahoma quite a bit just for that week even.
Hey Becky, girl you changed your name on here, wouldn't have known it was you if it wasn't for Malia. :)
