Confused...insurance...

I found out I'm pg a few days ago. I don't have insurance so am applying for insurance through the state (I qualify for free coverage for pregnancy). I have to send in the application with proof of pregnancy. How do I get proof of pregnancy, if I can't afford to go to the doctor/midwife, which is why I need insurance through the state?!?

I guess I'll call the midwife I think I'll be going to, set up an appointment and ask her if she'll give me a "confirmation of pregnancy" for the insurance. Does that sound right? If not, then what?

go to the health dept & take a pregnancy test.. they will give you a paper saying you tested + :)

You can go to Planned Parenthood (if there is one near you). I'm pretty sure they offer free pregnancy testing. If it's not free its really cheap and/or they do a sliding scale thing. They can also tell you where you need to go/ what you need to do to get the ball rolling for state funded heath coverage. OR you can do as you said and contact your planned midwife. I'm sure that she can provide the documentation of pregnancy you would need to give to the state to get coverage. I was in the same boat as you (preggo with no insurance) and the state has now got me covered.
