Iv'e been visiting doctors for the past four months because of a thyroid nodule that has grow to the extent that I sometimes find it difficult to breathe or swallow, After two biopsies they've ascertained that there is only a two percent chance that it may be cancerous. I had just visited my gp to see about a sinus infection and she urged me to talk to my endcrinologist this wednesday about having an operation (they know each other and have apparently reached the same conclusion). I wanted to waffle -in the past six years i've had two emergency c sections and a pretty awful case of menengitis- but told her that i would think about it. Taking my monthly pregnancy test the next morning (i've been doing this for the past five months because of all the tests that they run) i found out i was pregnant. I must have conceived around christmas. I've been taking a sythetic thyroid in the hopes that the nodule would shrink (meaning no cancer and easier breathing) and although the doctor said it couldn't harm a fetus i'm more thatn a little worried.
I apologise for the huge and heavy load that I'm laying on this board, and I's so happy that these threads are full joy and anticipation, but i needed to vent out a few things. BY the way, are there any doctors or nurses lurking on the board? Do you have any wise words?

NO wisdom here either, except that I hope you find peace in making your decisions, and hope someone round here can give some insight.

well, I can assure you that the synthetic thyroid hormone is fine! I've been on that for over 10 years and all my kids are perfectly healthy. :)

I'd say it's likely fine to give the thyroid hormone a little time to shrink the goiter, especially given the professional opinions you've had that it's likely NOT cancerous.
