So just got back from first midwife appointment (I'm closing in on 11 weeks), and am completely excited. Loved the midwife (the practice is only 2 midwives), got lots of questions answered, got to see my preggers cervix, and maybe heard a heartbeat. (Midwife said she caught it, but couldn't keep on it long enough for us to hear it--which is fine, I'm happy to wait. We'll probably switch to the fetoscope and forego the Doppler after this anyway.) Also had blood drawn (aiiiiiigh!), which took two tries and barely got anything, but at least it's done.
Whew. So a long day, but very exciting. Anyone else have a visit? Happy with it?

Not yet. I'm not really that far, like 7.5 wks. I am going to talk at her group prenatal on Sunday though and she offered to try to find a heartbeat but I think I'll wait till 10 weeks. She is a friend though so the prelimenary stuff isn't as necessary since I already know about her practice and her ideas.

I went today and was really underwhelmed with Kaiser. I wish wish wish we could come up with the money for the midwife!
The CNM I saw today wants me to take a GTT already (at 10 weeks) which I am upset about. I'm sick enough as it is and don't see the point.
I think I'm going to say no but go ahead and follow the GDM diet because I am at higher risk (age, weight). I just feel that I am going to be profiled into a c-section!!!
Otherwise, we heard the heartbeat and all is well. That was the highpoint of my week!
Hope you're all doing well!

I had my first appt. yesterday. It was great. We heard the heartbeat, which was surprising because I am only 8.5 weeks. The doc thinks I am perhaps further along than I think. Hmmm....
We are going to a new clinic and new birthing center, so we were happy with the first meeting. It is a very chill practice and the doc had incredible bedside manner.

I am new to the group...
I had my first appt with my midwife right after my + test.
I had my second appt on the 4th and I am having another appt on tuesday.
For my sanity.
I still haven't heard the HB...I really need that this time for some reason.

I'm going next Tuesday. I'll be 8.5 wks. She was my mw with my first baby and I can't wait to see her again. And it would be awesome if I could hear a heartbeat, too, but it's probably too soon. Good luck, mamas!

I had my first appt with my OB a couple of weeks ago. It was enough to get me a little freaked out. This babe is going to be a difficult one because of my extremely thin uterine lining. Anyway, they took TONS of blood (like 8 vials, is that normal?) and I got to talk for quite awhile with the OB that delivered my last DC. I found out that because of my previous c-sections nd the thin uterine lining, this babe will be coming 4-5 weeks early (not much of a problem considering my HUGE chilluns!! :shy ) and I will be having an amnio at 35 weeks to check on the lungs. I am mostly scared of the amnio, since I keep hearing that it can cause preterm labor. If I so much as have one contraction, I have about a 90% chance of rupturing. So I have already started getting worried. I have the U/S scheduled for the end of this month. Sorry that got so long!! :eyesroll

Just went for first appointment today. I can't believe how nice the OB and nurse were. I was totally comfortable and impressed. Switched hospitals this time as we couldn't get enough for a midwife. I'm glad we switched as I was so much more comfortable compared to with the last baby. If I do have to deliver there, I won't be as scared to transfer.

Had mine last Friday, but I was sooo sick with the flu that things hardly sunk in LOL All my blood work I'd had drawn the week before was normal. I get to see a midwife up until about 24w then I have to transfer to OB since it's twins, but they're in the same office, and the OB delivered my other two babies, so I'm fine with him :) Didn't hear the heartbeats because I have a tipped uterus and as soon as I lie down it falls back and she couldn't get a thing.
