Hi, I live in the No. Va. area (Sterling to be exact) and I'm already starting to look for those who have chicken pox to expose my son to. It makes me sooo mad that they require this vax at school and that less and less people have it to expose kids to inorder to develop a true immunity...anyway :) if you know of anyone, _anyone_ who has it please let me know (of course after you ask them if it's OK that I comeover to expose ds to ;))
Thanks!

There was a recent 'outbreak' in Crofton, MD but none of us in Annapolis was able to find any of the Crofton kids! I'll be sure to post if I hear about another.

Also it may be easier to find someone with shingles to get exposure to the virus. This is usually found in the elderly. Shingles is caused by the same virus. You have to have chicken pox first to get shingles.
Good luck trying to get chicken pox. My mother tried desperatly with me and my sister. We were exposed to cousins, neighbors, friends, kids at school. We did not get chicken pox until teenagers. Not good. We were both incredibly ill due to our older age.

LOL, you should be in my shoes! I am 32, had chicken pox when I was a child, but cause I have just moved to this country I have to have the silly vaccinatioin (which I know doesn't work!)! I hope you had some luck finding someone. I am missing the oppertunity for my son's to catch it as we are about to go away for a holiday. I have another 2 months to find another victim.

If you had it already, just get the titer and it will prove immunity. It's a simple blood test.

Almost a year later and I remember having a pm session with one of the moms here but can't remember who as I cleaned out my pm box. But an aquaintance of mine has her kids being exposed to chicken pox (by her SIL''s kids who are visiting and actively have it) and she seems very willing to "share" to whomever wants.
I would do it but I'm 28 weeks pregnant and don't feel totally comfortable.

LOL, I had the blood test, but my levels were too low, so though they could tell I had had chicken pox, they wouldn't sign the required documentation!
