I just wanted to share how much B6 has reeeeeeeaaaaalllyyy helped my nausea!!! I can't even believe it. I saw the MW last week, and told her how nauseous I was (no throwing up, just nauseous to the point of having to lay down several times a day--not such fun with a 2 1/2 year old little guy who wants to play!)
She said--try taking 50mg B6 two times a day with meals, works for some, and not for others, and we're not really sure why. It's water sol., so what you don't need, you pee out. Within a day an a half, my nausea was all but gone. I still get a bit if I'm not good about keeping something in my stomach, but I really can't believe the difference it's made.
I just wanted to share, in case some of you are feeling green!!

I'm glad it works for you. I tried it, and unfortunately it doesn't work for me. Looks like I'll be having all day, everyday m/s for the rest of this pregnancy, like last time.

glad you found something that worked! I tried b6 last pg and it didn't help (at that point I already had been experiencing hyperemesis) this time however i loaded up before getting pg with a B complex and I've had pretty mild nausea compared to last time.

I had some nausea with my first two pregnancies but not anything to complain about. This time I am taking B6 and nausea has been pretty much non-existent. It's nice, but then sometimes I just start wondering about baby....I hate that!!!

Ahhh bummer! I wish it worked for you guys too!

Yeah Little Cluck--I know, then I also get to wondering if everything is ok! But I just push on the side of my boob, and know it is--ouch!

The MW did mention using a combo of B6 and unisom in the evening, which also seems to help some.....if anyone is interested, I'll find my little paper that said dose!

Pregnant again for the third time. Had not tried b6 before but need something this time. 2 kids and a job = no time to puke : { Actually I work close to the BR which is great, but I would rather not. Thanks for the idea.

I've actually be going to take it, but I keep forgetting to pick it up...dang it! I am really tired of being sick and tired too and need to do something quick before we all go crazy! I also feel guilty about not being able to keep up with housework and bored 2-1/2 year old.

Anyone tried the preggie pops...they are supposed to have b6 in them? I was going to buy some once, but got scared by the price.

Thanks so much for this, Michelle. Because of your post, I picked up some B6 yesterday and feel so much better. I still feel a little queasy if I get too hungry, but this has made a real difference for me, too!

Oh, also, I did some research and found out that a person can get too much B6, but your dose is far below that point.

On second thought, you might want to check your dose. This is NOT medical advice, but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up. After I posted this, I did another search and some sources say that 100 mg per day for prolonged periods is toxic and others say it is 1000-2000 mg per day.

http://www.wholefoods.com/healthinfo/wholehealth/vitamin-b6.html
"If You Get Too Much
No adverse reactions have been reported with high intakes of vitamin B6 from foods. And when taking supplements, even long-term daily doses up to 100 mg are safe. However, in rare cases, taking 200 to 300 mg daily over time has resulted in nerve damage and associated numbness, weakness, and loss of function in the extremities. This serious consequence is more likely to occur when doses of more than 2,000 mg are consumed daily for lengthy periods (two months or more). Fortunately, nerve damage is reversible once the vitamin is discontinued....
Cautions
Taking high doses of this vitamin (more than 200 mg daily) over the long term may cause nerve damage.

If you take vitamin B6 for nerve pain and develop any new numbness or tingling, stop taking the supplement and consult your doctor.

Vitamin B6 supplements (25 mg a day) are commonly recommended for relieving the nausea and vomiting of pregnancy-related morning sickness. However, because there is still so little data on how such supplements will affect your developing baby, consult your doctor before taking the supplement."

I Googled <B6 toxicity>. Personally, I'm reducing my dose to 50mg per day.

Thanks for posting your findings Candy....I'll be curious to see if reducing has the same effect. I'll try it too. I have an appt with the HB MW on Wed (the one that gave me the info was a hospital MW), and see if she has any other info.
I'm so glad it has worked for you, and so quick too! Isn't it an amazing difference?? Strange. I too still get a bit of nausea when I'm not good about keeping something in my stomach. Nothing really looks good to me right now. In fact , I'm going to start a new thread to see what everyone is snacking on!
OK, keep me posted, and I'll let everyone know what the MW says.....

B-6 didn't help my morning sickness. Tried the wrist bands (Sea Bands) diddly squat there too. Oh well...

My naturopath prescribed a topical/transdermal B6 cream and it has really helped me immensely!! It is soo nice not to have to take it orally too!
