BFing Food-Allergic Child

DD 9 mos. is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, egg whites, dairy, and wheat. She has severe eczema and since we have not been able to get rid of it, I have recently stopped consuming all the things to which she is allergic. What I need from you-all is arguments to convince my DH that breastfeeding is still good for her! He's wondering if we should start talking about weaning. :crying (He doesn't know yet that he will be supporting us in child-led weaning). Links would be esp. good. Thanks!

I'm very pro-breastfeeding!!!:D I thought bf would prevent allergies and asthma, but it did not:crying However, since my dd is allergic to dairy also, I knew my milk would be best. As it turned out, she ended up with a soy allergy too (which btw, is quite common with dairy allergies). So, it left me with rice milk as a beverage. Breastmilk is FAR superior than anything you are going to give your child and not allergenic for her either!!!! On the down side, it means you too must avoid all the foods she is also allergic too. My dd is 3.5 years old and it has been tough on me to avoid all those foods as well. But, I would never, ever regret my decision to continue nursing.

I have been lucky in that my dh has been supportive. So, maybe others will have some advice with that. Let your dh know that weaning will most likely be stressful for everyone INCLUDING him since he will have to help feed your child. I say stick to your guns and continue because there is no going back once you quit;)
