I was just wondering because I *know* I am pg but from what I recall from my last pg they wouldn't see me until I was 8wks. :angry Has this happened to anyone else? I'm about 5-6wks.

My midwife doesn't want to see me till 8 weeks or so. My appt is March 7th and I will be a little over 8 weeks then, i think.

My midwife and I have been in contact via email (i've used the same one for all of my pregnancies/births) and she told me whenever I'm ready to come in. So I'm thinking I'll schedule my first appointment for the end of March. Around 9-10 weeks.

My mw didn't see me till 9 weeks. They like an 8-week minimum.

I'll be visiting my MW for my first exam and checkup around 10 weeks. I did go see her last week for an "interview", but wasn't really a medical thing. More business, to get finances and the like discussed.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that this is my 2nd pregnancy, and my first one was with this same midwife. I believe my first visit the first time was probally around 7-8 weeks or so.

I'm having my first interview/consult with a midwife group tomorrow evening. I'm ~8.5 weeks. They're not in a big hurry to see me, I just want to make sure I get on their docket because there aren't a lot of choices for homebirth here in San Diego. I have an interview with another midwife next week when I'll be nearly 10 weeks.

Jess, I'm in San Diego too!

I probably won't be having a home birth (hoping for the birth center), but one of the mamas on our tribal thread is about to have a homebirth (she's due 3/6, i think). If you don't click with the group you meet with, you might check with her for references. I know she interviewed several before deciding on one.

My midwife does not want to schedule an appointment with me until we have the possibility of hearing the heartbeat, so mine will be when Im 12 weeks. Not sure when we do the bloodwork.

I had an appt today with the OB (I'm seeing a mw but the OB does the u/s) for a follow-up u/s. I have a subcorionic hemmorage that was dxd in the ER almost 2wks ago so this was to check it.

I go back next Monday for a regular "OB" appt with my mw. :)

Yep. I've gone. I actually went the day after we found out (4.5 weeks pregnant) and met the doctor and had some tests done...then I went back a week and a half ago to ask him questions. I will probably go back in the end of March.

Well I'm still in shock over this pg. :dropjaw. My DD is the result of 4 IVF's after learning that both of my tubes were blocked so DH & I are flabergasted that we got pg naturally. I'll call my midwife soon. I have to let this sink in 1st.

I had already interviewed and hired my mw before my m/c in October, so I emailed her to let her know I was pg. She likes to hold off on the first appt until we will (probably) be able to hear the heartbeat so 10-12 weeks. We have scheduled the first appt for March 15 when I will be almost exactly 12 weeks.

I am so excited for our planned HB this time around and I can't wait for our first appt! DH and I really clicked with this mw right away, we never even bothered interviewing anyone else. When she came to our house for the interview, we wound up chatting for over 2 hours!! I am also SO looking forward to having all my pre-natals at my house. Not having to lug a 2 year old to the docs office once a month is yet another benefit of HB :D

Yup, but only because I have thyroid problems that my mw wants to stay on top of. My first visit was basically for a blood draw to check my TSH and iron levels.

I had an ultrasound last week and have to go back on Monday for a follow-up -- apparently there's some issue with the fluid levels between the amniotic and chorionic membranes. My mw has seen this before and it has turned out fine, so I'm hoping and praying that things look great on Monday.

Thanks for the reference, I'll check it out. I haven't been in the tribal thread much because it's mostly mamas and I'm not quite there yet. Yet!

I'm going to see the midwife at 10 weeks, which is next week, and I REALLY hope I can hear the heartbeat. My last pg was a blighted ovum, and I just want some reassurance that there is a baby in there this time.

I went to see the mw at 8.5 weeks (I'm 10 weeks now), and they did bloodwork and all that. She tried to find a hb with the doppler and couldn't, and then asked us if we wanted an early u/s. I wasn't going to get one until I got freaked out that she couldn't find a hb! So we got one and I was very glad...saw the little pea and heartbeat, everything fine.

Last time I went at 5.5 weeks for the first time and there was really nothing to do, so it makes sense that it's later although it's frustrating to wait!

congratulations of this pregancy!!!!!

to answer the op: my ob generally sees people (well you see a nurse practitioner) for education (don't eat lots of fish, etc.), bloodwork, a pap if you aren't current and a breast exam at 8 weeks.

I went at 4 weeks for an annual, not knowing I was pregnant. 6 weeks for an US because I was having bleeding and was worried that the pregnancy wasn't in the uterus. I've been like 3 times since and go in again next week --- just a wait and see kinda case I guess. I've been seeing the nurse practitioner, next week we'll see the new doc I'm thinking of switching to. My OB from my first is super hard to get apts with because she's at another practice one day a week.

i can't find a midwife at all, and there are too many OBs to choose from, and i haven't heard anything great about any of them yet *sigh*

I was having some pain. So my hus insisted that we go at about 6weeks. I have to go to a OB cuz there are no MW here and it is the law to have the baby in the hospitial? If this birth is like my other two we might have a accidental home birth. I go soooooo fast! Anyway, Back to the early visit! Everything is great! We saw the baby on u/s and even the heart beat. My doc than had to go and deliver a baby so the visit was cut short. I have another appt for the exam. Eew! On tues.

Had an u/s at 5 4/7 days and again at 5 5/7 days. I had been having spotting so they did hcg levels and the u/s. that night I had a big gush of blood and thought I had a miscarriage. Had an u/s the next day and everything looked ok. I go on the 17th for another u/s and a visit with the midwife. I will be 7 weeks 6 days.
