but can you use old stockings to make doll heads? if so - what do you stuff them with? :bag:

yes you certainly can! You can make an entire doll with stuff from around the house if you are so inclined!

For examle, use an old stocking for the stockingette portion, stuff with poly fill, wool, cotton batting, or whatever you can muster up!
MIL once used old pieces of recycled toys to stuff pillows for her boys (took out the stuffing, tore them up, and stuffed away!)

For the skin layer you can use an old tshirt and soak it in tea until it gets to the color you like.

For hair you can use any yarn or scraps of fabrics or make a hat to cover the head1
