Mamas with 2+ kiddos

I can't help myself but tell DS, even though my thinking brain is telling me to wait until I am closer to the due date (or at least showing). But I am so excited to give him a sibling. Since we started TTC, we have been talking about babies in bellies and he plays that a lot. He loves letters and I hear him saying "Mama D has a baby d in her belly." Last night I was telling him that mama may have a baby in her belly he he insisted on seeing LOL. I told him it would be a long time, around Thanksgiving before the baby came.

When did you tell your oldest children about their impending siblings? When did they "get it"? Is it cruel to tell him so early?

I have 3 and told my kids right away but with this one i'm being a little more careful. You see, back in 2003 i was so excited to be pg but then had a m/c and the kids were devastated. I want to make sure everything is ok before telling them this time around, at least until i'm in a safer zone. But that's just my situation..you have no idea how much i want to tell them :love
