One of my bestest friends ever moved to ALbuquerque recently (right now I am here visiting... Hi :wave) and I wondered where one might go to meet other AP mamas. I'd love to be able to hook her up with the secret hangouts of AP mamas in Albuquerque. She is AWESOME (she taught me much of what I know about AP/natural family living) and I think anyone who gets to know her will feel the same way.
So where are your favorite hangouts and such ? Playgroups for kids (hers are 2 1/2 and 7) ? And where the heck is Summit Park ??? (can't find it on the map)
TIA ! :love

Hi Oceanmommy -
Well, I am AP and I live in Albuquerque. I stay at home with my 9 month old daughter, so I would love to meet other AP parents myself. I thought about just forming my own group because I haven't found a good AP hangout - and honestly, I haven't really been looking all that much yet. The one thing I can suggest is the "Birthing Center" over on Wellesley and Silver in the Nob Hill neighborhood. It has a lot of parenting and birthing groups and get togethers and various classes and discussions on topics of appeal to AP parents. I have always noticed that the parents I see there seem very AP - really into BF'ing, homebirth, homeschooling, etc... Let me know if your friend wants to email me and we can talk about starting an AP play group. Take care.

Hi again Oceanmommy,
I just read the post from "maddy's mom" and saw that she is also here in Albuquerque and was looking to form a play group. Maybe we can all get a group going?? You might want to read that post from her if you haven't already, even though I believe it was posted in September.

lillacoix thank you so much for replying ! :hug You are so sweet. I will see if she'd like to start a playgroup... her computer hasn't made it to NM yet so email may be hard... I will come back and post after I talk to her.
Thanks again !!

Hello other ABQ Mamas!
I just moved to ABQ last month and would love to find a group of AP mamas and babes to hang out with! My son is 14 months old and I stay at home with him.
If anything has materialized from the previous discussion on this subject, please let me know!
Thanks so much! I'm longing for some AP buddies!

Hey I haven't visited the boards in a long time - busy with changing diapers and paying the bills, etc. And I found a GREAT playgroup a few months ago which seemed to fill in the gap for me in my need to find other like-minded moms in ABQ. But I am still hoping to connect with more mommies and was wondering whether anyone here might be interested in getting together?

I'm so glad to see recent posts on this thread! Would anyone like to meet in the UNM/Nob Hill area, say at the UNM Duck Pond or La Montanita Co-op? I have a 5-month-old daughter and would be happy to meet anyone who's interested.

Thanks for the post Cecily! I would love to get together though our children are some months apart (my son is 14 months). I am new to the area am looking to find other like-minded families.
Shall we set something up to meet and if other want to join us, that would be great! How about at the UNM Duck Pond? Let me know what time and day would work with your schedule. We are pretty open but have a regular engagement on Wednesday mornings.
Look forward to hearing from you!

You're welcome! Let's hurry and meet while the weather is so beautiful -- it's supposed to cool down Tuesday, so how does this Monday sound? I'm free all day and usually take a midday walk to UNM around 11:30ish, but if later in the afternoon is better I can do that too.

So sorry about the delay in responding. If it is not too late to set something up, it would be great to meet tomorrow (Monday) at the UNM Duck Pond. Hopefully this nasty wind will settle down before then!
Anyway, email me privately if this works for you (jennloa@msn.com) and we can exchange numbers in case something comes up last minute and one of us is unable to attend.
Look forward to hearing from you!

I thought I'd breathe some life into this old thread. I just moved to Albuquerque with my husband and two-month-old daughter. I don't know anyone at all here. I'm right by the UNM campus. I'd love to find a few AP-friendly friends with babies to get togther sometime.

Carolyn, welcome to Albuquerque!
Since your first post, we've since begun a playgroup. Mondays at 2:30. During the summer we meet at a park and during winter, we meet at peoples homes. Tomarrow, playgroup will be at my house. You are more than welcome to join us. It's mostly babies right now. The oldest attendee is 20 months and the youngest is 3 or 4 months. My daughter is 13 months. PM me if you would like directions.
This has proven the only way for me to meet AP mamas unfortunatly. We'd be glad to have you! Also, we go for Mom's Night Out once a month.

Ok, WOW - this thread totally freaked me out until I realized the initial date was like 2 years ago! I'm thinking, Cecily has a 5 month old daughter? Since when? Ha!
Hey Carolyn! C'mon over to the ABQ January chat thread that I'm about to create!

Yeah, OLD post. It's funny b/c I know some of these mamas and kids and they're not babies anymore! Anyway, in case others read this post, the Birth Center is a great idea. For groups and classes, but also to post info and to get groups going. Also, Ernie Pyle library on Girard is a a place young families gravitate towards. Especially in the summer. Fridays at 11:30 is storytime and there are TONS of babies and kids there.
