The last time I was in New York a German mother had her child in these fabulous rain overalls. They were yellow, with red suspenders, and they came up very high on the body.

She told me she bought them in Germany, but I didn't get the brand name.

Can anyone help me out so I can get some? I can do an internet search if I just know who made them.

Thank you!

Jessica

Hi Jessica!

The rain suit is called Regenanzug, or Kinderregenanzug. Regenbekleidung you could also put into the search. What size do you need? Do you live here in Germany? Sometimes stores like Aldi or Lidl have special sales where they have them in their stores, but only for limited time... usually they sell out fast.

Describe more of what you want and I’ll get them for you (if the season is right, which I think it is). Should be around US $20 or so.

The kind I’m thinking of has elastic stirrups and elastic shoulder straps. They’re really thin but do protect from the rain well. I haven’t seen the color you mentioned.

Ebay.de would also be a place to look but I’m fine with mailing them to you if I can find them.

Remember my shopping ‘issues’ :LOL

We call them 'Matschhose' , can't live without them!!

I have several sizes with and without insulation. Maybe I can just send you a pair I don't need anymore if you tell me a size.

Yup, Behr, that's them! I saw the yellow ones with red suspenders. I wasn't worried about the color but that is exactly what I saw.

Since I posted I found a rain suit, but nothing light that would go over real clothes. ICM and Behr, your offers are so generous! thank you so much!

Behr, I would need size 2T or 3T, if you have that handy. I'm right in the middle of moving, but I will pm you my address, unless the shipping would be insanely expensive for you.

But first let me see if I can buy them online here. I will do some looking now.

Maybe I'll see Behr (hint, hint, hint) and can mail them for her from our US post office box!

I have a 2T padded, kinda for winter and spring/fall. It's only padded in the top part, so still pretty small to pack.
Or else we can order from the site I suggested.
The material is soewhat toxic in general, but the ones from Jako-o have been tested to be a bit better. We can look for 'nontoxic' ones if you're worried, but they will be more expensive.
I usually get them rather big so they fit several years. They're mashine washable and the better kinds last for a while.

You can even get socks made of the same material for babies so they can crawl in the dirt.

I went to the website, but it would be more complicated than I expected to order, with the change in dollars, etc. I also don't have a credit card that I can use, so I'd love to take your pants, Behr! The toxic thing doesn't bother me. I will PM my new address to both of you, Behr and ICM, then just let me know what you decide to do.

thank you SO much! In New York, there is a lot of exposure to the elements, and I know these pants will be well used and well-loved!
