I will cross-post this in the Tribal area, but I wonder if anyone out there knows of a good Montessori school in North Jersey? Or a list on the Web of Montessori schools? I'm in Hudson County, though nearby counties are fine.

I've been searching for one, but have so far come up only with "fake" Montessori schools. I know there's an issue with copyright, etc, but how do you go about finding bona fide ones?

There is Waterfront Montessori in Jersey City, although I would say this is more of a daycare and probably more on the fake side. I have heard that the directress and staff are a bit disorganized there. I would say the best "real" Montessori schools are probably quite a ways from you-- the one in Princeton is exquisite in every way (although you probably don't want to drive an hour!). I want to say there is also one near Waldwick (I may have the town name wrong-- it's in the Mahwah area, I think). You might want to check out some in Manhattan since you're in Hudson Co., but you'll probably pay more there and the wait lists are longer. Sorry I'm not much help, but I share your frustration!

also not so close but closer than Princeton is the albrook school in basking ridge. its west on 78 from hudson county. it is wonderful. I'm considering it for my son (only 8 months now) the director is very passionate and has been around for 30 or so years.

My dd attends a small one in Kinnelon (not to be mixed up with the larger one in the same town with a different owner). We are thrilled with it, and it is a real Montessori.
