Each pregnancy I seem to find a food that I cannot live without. With dd#1 it was steak and cheese grinders :eyesroll , with dd #2 I loved cheese and ketchup (weird, I know!) and now I can't get enough fruit, especially oranges, and cereal. I am not normally a big fruit person but now I love it :love Anyone else eating certain things they don't usually have? Anything making you absolutely ill just thinking about it? For me anything strong smelling really turns my stomach.

Absolutely, positively, no sweets for me.
I'm loving my morning granola with fresh strawberries on top.
Almonds and cheese are doing great things for a queasy stomach.
I've had mushroom barley soup instead of what ever Phil made for dinner 3 times this week.
I don't have any "I can't live without this" foods yet, though I'm guessing it might be mushroom barley soup. Gotta make another batch today.

I had ramen noodles and cheese toast this morning. For breakfast. :LOL Right now I really love these cheese & chive breadsticks, and I have been craving pizza, which I don't normally care about one way or the other. Oh, and fried rice. There are so many things I can't eat right now, it's not worth listing!

My cravings:
hummus, beans (I've been eating black bean soup all week)
cheese and crackers
fresh fruit
mushrooms... you should have seen the look on DH's face when he came in the other night and I was cooking a large skillet of mushrooms. He was a sport and took a bowl.
Eggs
Cucumber and Tomatoes
Banana Bread
I can't stand to look at or smell meat....yuck.

Banana bread- but only the way I make it!:
with half whole wheat, lots of wheat germ, flax seeds, coconut, and chocolate chips. :yum I can eat half a loaf at a time, paired with slabs of sharp cheddar.
Coffee ice cream. Oh, how I miss CoffeeCoffeBuzzBuzzBuzz! It got so bad a few weeks ago, I actually went to the Ben&Jerry's website to request that they bring it back! :bag:
Cottage cheese with pineapple, which I usually think is very weird, especially the pre-mixed packaged stuff.
Early in this pregnancy, I wanted lemonade, and avocado rolls with lots of pickled ginger & wasabi.
Every so often, I NEED plain applesauce.
It must be room temperature, though. :shrug
I secretly resent people who even TALK about fish/seafood in my presence. And this morning, DH was polishing off the last of the Halloween candy, and I got annoyed that he even mentioned that he got a banana-flavored SweetTart. :innocent Fake banana flavor?? :gross
ETA: how did I get into the December thread? hope y'all don't feel intruded upon... :shy

I'm eating nothing. Protein Shakes and...
Hmm...
whatever I can find when the nausea subsides. Whole wheat pasta with peas and olive oil right now.
Edited... I ate fresh pineapple too. Ahhh.

With DS #1 it was McDonalds french fries, I was literally obcessed. I would make excuses to leave the house so I could stop by and pick some up. That was pretty much my only major craving during my frist pregnancy. With this one I get a little nausious smelling certain things, gross things, like a tuperware container that I had left on the counter for 2 days. Normally I wouldn't have an issue with something like that, but I started gagging as I was pouring it into the garbage disposal.

I ate tons of fruit with dd, and then toowards the end it was ice cream ALL the time, soft serve, but it was June/July in Florida, sooo....with this one it has been whatever I don't have to make for myself....I'd almost rather not eat than to cook.....but mushroom barley soup sounds good and so does the banana bread, can you guys make me some? ;)

Mushroom barley soup is EASY.
Saute garlic, chopped onion, grated carrot, sliced mushrooms in olive oil, until the mushrooms give off liquid, add barley and toast a few minutes, add broth and simmer for ~45 minutes.
I tossed the onion, carrot and mushrooms in the food processor and just chopped them all together last time.

Wow Wendy... that sounds soooo good. I am going to have to make that!
This is how I make my banana bread. It is easy too. When it is done I slice it and freeze it so that I can just thaw a piece at a time as I need it.
2 cups banana -- mashed
1/2 cup sugar (I use sucanat)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
(I usually add some milk- maybe 1/4 a cup or less)
1. Mix together banana, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl.
2. In separate bowl mix together remaining ingredients.
3. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredient until just blended.
4. Bake in a loaf pan at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.

with DS it was fries and chocolate. i was NEVER a chocolate fan before getting preggo with DS. i also had to have bagels with cream cheese and tomato all the time.
this time around, i'm a fan of anything mexican...and i just made myself a YUMMY cheddar cheese and mustard sandwich on whole wheat toast. YUM! toast is typically a good thing to get rid of nausea for me...well, not get rid of it...but...you know.
and chocolate isn't really doing all that much for me this time. go figure.
i'm also just trying to be healthier about the things i eat so i'm *trying* more things than i did before and finding good things. :)

Thanks for the recipes!!!! Anyone else have any easy recipes for me to try?!?! I always have a hard time with dinner because dh is BIG carnivore and I am a vegetarian, so we usually do pasta or beans and rice, things like that I really want to get more in the habit of having dinner and sitting down to the table so we can raise the kids with that.
last night i had a morningstar farms chicken patty on a bun with tomato and mayo.....omg...i might eat it for every meal!!!!!
