All of the playstands I've seen cost a bundle! I love the idea of having a couple but I'm too poor to shell out $300.00 :( . Has anyone found a good source for inexpensive playstands?
Thanks!

Hello!

I, too, have been thinking about getting some playstands. The cheapest I've found was $160 for two at threesisterstoys.com. The link is here:

These are unfinished but the finished ones are only like $20 more.

This is still a little more than we can afford right now so if someone knows how to make it, I'd love to hear!

I don't have the link but if you go to the Waldorf website there is a section with instructions on making your own. They are really simple!

Thanks guys! I'll probobly purchase the stands ($160 seems like a steal compared to what I've found elsewhere). I'll have to save for a while but it seems worth it in regards to play value. I wish I was crafty enough to make my own but I don't even have any tools! :o

I am super cheap and fortunately have tools. But, if you buy wood from the lumber yard or Home Depot they will cut it to size for you and then you can put the peices together. The assembly is also a great experience for your children as a group projct, even if they are tiny they still get something out of it.

My DH made 2 playstands on Saturday. I was surprised as to how quickly he finished! He found some dimensions from the Waldorf website but of course HAD to make them bigger (men...lol). They really are cool and we saved a bundle. Now he wants to attempt a stove and refrigerator....we'll see how that goes....lol

Just curious -- What is a playstand and what do you use it for?

Thanks!

My dh made one from a drawing I made and our memory of our dd's old one years ago. It cost $30 from new materials as I recall. He made it last year for our temple kids' room. It was just 3 1x8ish pieces, two for the sides and one for the shelf. Drilled 2 holes for a 1" dowel and a 1x2 support for the shelf, I think.

Very easy. My dd used it for endless puppet shows (and I do mean endless!).
