Chico Area Moms

Any of you out here? I know I have ran into a few of you here and in RL. My name is Stacie and I am the mother of two boys. I am heavily involved with La Leche League and would love to invite any moms in the area to attend. Our next meeting is next Friday, the 15th. We meet at 10 AM at Bidwell Presbyterian (that beautiful brick church by the university; Main and Esplanade). We would love to have you!

I am in Chico and I have 2 boys too. My ds are 2 and 4. I am still nursing, but never got into LLL. I had a friend that was the Paradise leader. I guess I never had a problem so I never attended, plus it is a chore just getting everybody fed and out of the house most of the time. I got to go I hear a mess being made!!!:eek

Hi Chico Mommas! I am thinking we should all get together and meet with our little ones. I am on a very modified activity level due to placenta previa (I'm 5 1/2 months pregant) and I have a 2 1/2 year old little boy. I know Stacie who started the thread. We could meet at our house. It's all child proofed and we have a big backyard for playing. let me know if y'all want to meet. It would be fun. Plus I am so bored not being able to leave home much!!!

Sounds like fun! Who's your midwife? I had Janice Kalman for ds#2. She was wonderful!!!:love I sometimes do massage out of the Paradise Midwifery Chico office. They are all sooo nice and so our the homebirth midwives. Anyway, just curious.
Let me know when and where and I will bring my tribe!

Hello Chico Moms! I'm currently living on the Central OR coast. My DH is looking for jobs and there is an opening in Chico. I know very little about CA in general .. other than I am told it can be expensive. Do you like Chico??

I'm liking Chico! It's not as expensive as SF. The price range for a two bedroom seems to be starting at $600 a month, going up to $1400 for really expensive places. Health food stores leave a bit to be desired, but there is a nice huge park that makes up for everything.

I've been going to the LLL meetings and Stacie is grand. She's passed the "this woman can hug me when I'm upset and I won't get more upset" test that Annabelle has set up. You know someone is wonderful when you kid hugs them

This Saturday i am going to be in Redding most of the day. We're going to set up camp at teh aquatic park. It looks like there is a good sized group in Redding.

I'm really thinking that if I am here past August that I want to open up a North Valley branch of API. I really loved it in SF and I think that though scattered, there are a lot of AP parents up here.

Elizabeth you are going to love the acquatic center. The pool for the little ones is fun, but I think it is a little too deep for children under 3. Enjoy it!

Did you also see the Redding thread here? Looks like a good community of more MDC Mamas, too : )

The "test" is something my family calls "The Hug-ability Test" - if your kid spontaneously hugs someone, they are a good person. I've known people to extend that to "The Door Test" - if there is a knock at the door and the kids stop playing and hide do not answer the door.

Not any true sense of a test, but just more of observation. Sorry for being not so clear in posting! It's nothing Stacie set up, it's just Annabelle that does it : )

I bet you all wondered what happened to me!!! i invite everyone over and then disappear!! I was just searching and saw this thread and didn't even remember that i had written that. SORRY!!!! I am off of bedrest and get to have a homebirth and I'm just waiting to go into labor at any minute. After a big nesting in period, I would till love to meet everyone, but it will have to be in August or later. I don't remember who said they'd like to start an API group here, and I have been thinking about that so much, too. Stacie and I have a good friend/ cool mom who lives here who is certified in API, which i would love to do. Let's talk about it when we meet or before.
