need stethescope

those who have a good fetalscope/stethescope what kind is it, where did you get it, how much should a quality one be???

I found this one, it looks good, but for some reason I expected a 'good' one to cost more :LOL

I saw that same one in a couple of places for about $20, and wondered the same thing. I'm almost 20 weeks and think my older kids would have fun trying to listen to baby. They already spend so much time talking to my belly! :love

I saw that at www.1cascade.com for $20, but "Heart and Hands" said to avoid that kind. It didn't say why. I think maybe they just mean for midwives, theyy should have a better one, but who knows? I think I'm just going to use a regular stethoscope, there's one at the Cascade site for $7 that looks pretty good, but I'm going to see if I can find one at the pharmacy before I buy online and pay shipping.
Acording to Heart and Hands, the heartbeat can be hear between 16-18 weeks and should be heard by 20.

I have that kind of fetoscope and use it in my prenatals and it works just fine. A regular stethoscope would also be ok for listening to the baby prenatally, but if you are planning to use it during labor, I would recommend a fetoscope because it helps isolate the sound better. The more expensive fetoscopes usually have higher quality tubing and the tubing is shorter, but I haven't noticed a huge difference in sound quality.

I'm not UC but during my last pregnancy I bought a $20 fetoscope. It worked so well and we listened to the heartbeat every night before we went to bed. My midwife couldn't find it at one appointment and I said "that's because it's right there." she was going to go find another doppler until I begged her to try where we'd found the heartbeat. I was right and she was shocked :)
