Hey everybody! Howzit? :)

I'm no longer living in Paradise, but I grew up on O'ahu watching the beautiful Honolulu city lights. I'm now in NC with DH and DS, though my family is still in Hawai'i and we get back about twice a year.

I'm writing more for my SIL, who has a 2 1/2 yr old and is expecting another baby in May. She is a SAHM, 24 yrs, and is having a hard time finding some support for SAHM's. Most of her friends are still single or just married.

Does anyone know of some good parenting groups in Hawai'i that she might be able to join? Playgroups, and such?

Mahalos!

She might want to check out the Baby Hui (for mothers of babies and toddlers). I don't have the number but I assume it can be found in the phone book or information. In Hilo the number can be found on the local cable station but I don't know about Oahu.

We're in Makakilo. My son turned 3 in July. We just moved here in March. A bit homesick and a little frustrated at how hard it's been to find other moms like me. I came from a playgroup in VA w/ all sorts of AP moms right near me.

Anyhow, I have a hard time making friends (ds is very friendly though) and I'm not the crunchiest mama, but I try. Anyhow, feel free to contact me :)

Hi Bree,
My name is Quincy.
DH is from Laie, on the North Shore.
We currently live in Oregon, but will be back in Laie at the end of October for a few weeks.
I think there are a few other moms out there from the discussion boards. earthmama007 invited me to get together with her and some other moms when we are on the island. I pm'd her to find where the natural food stores were. My in-laws eat very polynesian, and I don't want to shock my kids' systems while we are there, know what I mean?
I think it would be fun to meet all of you. The other two moms are in Kailua and Hickham airforce base.
We could find a place, our kids could play, and we could 'talk story'!
What do you think?
My kids (as you can see from my sig) are 3 (son) and 15 months (daughter).

Let me know, we'll be there Oct22 thru nov. 4

Hi everybody,
just thought I'd chime in. Im in Kuli'ou'ou, which is near Hawaii Kai, on the east side, O'ahu. I work very part time at Barnes & Noble in Kahala mall, usually in the kids dept. so if anyone is in the area, stop by! My son will be 3 in Oct. and 2 of my close friends just had babies, so hanging out with them is hard because my ds is crazy runing around and their babies sleep nicely.:p kama' aina, I'm going to try to get to a Honolulu LLL in order to complete my Lac ed. certification. I need 4 classes. Maybe I'll stop by yours in December!

Aloha. I thought I might introduce myself here. I'm Heather and have lived in Ewa for 2.5 years. I have a 21 month old daughter and am due with a son the beginning of December.

My husband is military and it is so difficult to find other mamas with open minds. I am still nursing my daughter and if you could see the looks I get... not to mention the unsolicited comments. Anyway, I thought I'd pop in here. I'd love to meet up sometime and maybe get a play group going.

Aloha,
Heather

Hello Heather! We're not too far apart. I'm in Makakilo. I'd love to get a playgroup going. I'm testing out a new email loop (yahoo groups has been dropping messages) so if anyone would like to join so we can start planning a playgroup, email me at oahumimi@aol.com

and so you guys know a little bit more about me:

I'm so jealous to know of all you wonderful women on Oahu! I am on the Big
Island in Wood Valley between Volcano and South Point, and it would be
a dream come true to have a friend that is not retired with grown-up kids!

Anyone know of anybody or anything in this area? Wood Valley is the most
beautiful place on the planet and it is so fun growing organic food and coffee
and tea.....but my kids are a little lonely and I would like to meet some
Mommies somewhere in between yuppies and hippies and totally committed
to exquisite parenting and living!
