View Full Version : My uterus is hiding
Today at my mw appt, she couldn't find my uterus. I am 15w3d, and we did hear a heartbeat. She said she could usually feel it by now, but didn't seem too concerned that she couldn't find it. She said if next time she couldn't she would be concerned.
What could this mean? Could it possibly be part of the reason I'm not showing yet? My stomach is firm where it was baby flabby, but other than that no big difference. With my first I didn't show until 7 months and I never looked very big (baby weighed 6 lb 7 oz at birth). Just curious what's going on.

I show very late, so I suspect that it is within normal limits not to show at 15 weeks. I'm 26 weeks with my 4th and just started wearing maternity clothes, though, I could probably go a little longer without.
Normally, your fundus is at about halfway between your umbilicus and your pubis now. If your midwife isn't concerned and is willing to wait until your next appointment, I'd trust her. She's seen this, I suspect.
You may just have excellent abdominal muscles.

do you have a tilted uterus? I have one and it makes my uterus sit farther back so it becomes harder to find until I am farther along in my pregnancy.

A tilted uterus like the previous poster can cause this, as can carrying extra weight around your mid-section.
Hmm... I've never been told I have a tilted uterus, but I read it can tilt after childbirth, so maybe mine tilted.
Onlyboys, that makes me feel better to hear you're just now in maternity clothes with #4...I thought I was the only one who didn't need them at 12 weeks for #2.
I had about 10 extra pounds before pregnancy, and I haven't gained any yet (in fact, I've been losing). I guess I'll just wait and see.
