my son is interested in playing soccer this fall, and i was wondering what's typical for the amount of practices and games per week? i can't find any info online. if your kids play (he's only 5) do you have both practice and a game in one week?

Mine started soccer and T-ball at that age. Until games started we had practice once a week for about an hour. This lasted about 3 weeks. Then we had 2 games a week usually for the rest of the season (which was about 6 weeks I think)

I've seen both one 1hr and two 45 min practices a week for this age group so I think it depends on the coach. I personally do the 1hr, once a week approach for my son's team (DH & I both coach here) and did the same with my daughters team until she was about 7 or 8. Our league has weekly games and our season lasts about 8 weeks.

My DDs are thinking about signing up for girls softball this fall. Do you have any idea what to expect for 7-9 year old softball? I'm a little nervous about signing up for something when we have no idea when it will happen or how long it will last. Everything else they've done has been more cut and dry (Girl Scouts on Wed. from 4:30 to 6:00) I could write it on my calendar and I knew what I was getting into before handing over a check.
THANKS

My DD played soccer a couple of years and my DS has been playing for 5 years now, two sessions per year. For soccer, they have two games a week and just do a warmup practice for about 15-20 minutes before each game and then play. They focus more on the fun of it than the actual competition at this age (in our town/league...I know others are different!)
He also plays basketball, football and baseball. The basketball is similar to the soccer (practices just before games), whereas the football and baseball is more competitive and he has two practices a week and two games a week.
He's almost 10, going into 4th grade, but it was this way when he was littler too.

Softball here does two practices a week until games start and then it's approx. 2 games per week and if they can find time they may throw in a practice. Season lasts about 8-9 weeks in the spring. We don't have a fall ball league here so I'm not sure about the length of a fall season. HTH!
Five and up here practices twice a week with a game on saturday. DD's was once a week with a game on saturday at three yrs old.
