Anyone currently nursing?

How is it going for you? It's getting very painful for me so if you have any tips I'd love to hear them!

This time I am only nursing my 4 year old and he only nurses 3 or 4 times a week for jsut seconds, so I was thinking it is not too painful-last time I got pregnant when my first was only 10 months old and nursing around the clock. I used the nursing to practice vocalizing for labor!

But I will admit my breast are sure getting sensitive!

I have 2 nurslings. One 3 yo and an 11 month old. Neither will nurse for very long any more. I just try to deal with it. I didn't get tender until about 8 months or so so that made things easier. This time I'm a little sore but it doesn't seem too bad.

Oh my! I only nurse in the mornings and before bed at night and that's challenging enough. Plus my son is so active while he nurses. I guess ya just have to grin and bear it, huh? I try to tell him he needs to be gentle because it hurts Mommy and he nods and says ok but he just can't manage.

I guess there is no magic fix-it :( My nipples are *very* sore so it's really a challenge for me when my son latches on. And of course, he has to switch sides about 3 times each. Good thing he's so cute ;)

Wow, you guys are making me grateful that I've had as little discomfort as I've had. My son nurses maybe twice during the day and throughout the night and it's less comfortable by morning than it used to be, but not horrible. He's definitely nursing less now, but my supply hasn't been affected yet.

At this point, I wouldn't mind if my supply dried up. :(

So far, so good for me! DD is 21 months and will nurse all day long if I let her! Sometimes it gets to me by the end of the day, but I try keeping her busy with other things so she isn't as apt to want to nurse so often.

Ds is 20 months and still nursing strong. I was having a lot of pain in my left breast, which I'm now pretty sure was yeast. I started using a little antifungal cream, and it's mostly cleared up. I should've taken care of it sooner, but I just figured it was pregnancy tenderness.

I did have some tenderness issues, though. They seemed to be worse at the same time my queaziness was bad. Then, both rather disappeared over the weekend. Could be because we were on vacation, and ds was nursing a lot less due to all the activity. Since we've been home, he's been nursing a lot, but it's not painful anymore.

I'm just taking it day by day, because it always seems to keep changing!

I'm having some discomfort at initial latch-on, but I just remind my dd to open wide before she latches and that does help. With my dd's pregnancy, I was nursing my middle ds who was about 19 months....at 20 months I had to wean him because I just couldn't handle the pain. He was only nursing 2-3 times a day and it was a very easy transition for both of us. Don't feel bad if this is the path you choose to take!!

I'm having some latch-on pain when my little guy nurses, but he's two and a half, so he only nurses a maximum of three times in a 24-hour period. Unfortunately, the morning nursing session can go on for a while! I have to enlist my husband's aid in distracting the boob-monster after I start to get bored with it.

I went to my eight-week midwife appointment, and she reminded me that there's no need for my son to wean unless I just want to wean him now, and that he's not increasing my miscarriage risk or taking nutrients from his new sibling. That's so refreshing! So many providers that you hear about are in a big hurry to have their patients wean.

My dd is 20 months and would nurse all day long if I let her. Thankfully I only have a bit of nipple tenderness, my breasts aren't sore like they were for my previous 3 pregnancies so I'm just practicing the grin and bear it tactic.
