thought i'd try this again...

i'm interested in starting, forming or becoming part of a play group. i live near the pan handle, yet prefer to play at duboce park/playground, with my crawling 14mo baby girl. i'm willing to travel... as long as the bus will get us there.

i'd PREFER to have a set day(s) and time each week... we'll make it when we can, OR just see ya' the next day or week planned. trying to schedule a new/different day and time each week is too much work -- sorry.

a little about me??
i'm mid 30's, married, veggie going vegan, bicyclist (don't own car), full-time AND stay at home mom (it's the best of both), practice AP style child raising, don't believe in physical or mental abuse or manipulation, try to buy locally or from co-ops or second hand stores, currently designing my 3rd tattoo, training for a marathon, just starting yoga (again) and attempting to learn more about wicca. i love to learn, and like every new mother out there, find that that is ALL i'm doing 24/7. oh, and i am not a purist by ANY means.

if any of this is at all interesting, let me know!! ;-)

Veggiemama,

I'm a san francisco mama who live not very far from you (2nd Ave). I have been trying to meet other SF mamas but am finding it to be quite the challenge.

A bit about myself....

I am 34 yr old single mom and I have a 2 3/4 yr old son. I do work full time so my only free time is on the weekends. I love to cook and try to buy most of my produce at the farmers market. Lately I have been trying to preserve my own food i.e. canning applesauce, preserving lemon, and making jams. I play tennis and run (working to do 5 miles per run). I also like to read and discuss books.

If interested in getting together some sunday. Let me know.

Hey mamas! I am so excited to read your posts. I live right near Alamo Square in the Western Addition. I would love to meet up with you both. I get together sometimes with a group of moms that I met at DayOne. I enjoy those outings most of the time but I sometimes end up feeling like such an odd-ball because I cloth diaper, make my own babyfood, make my own bread, co-sleep, use a sling, buy and eat mostly organic, live in a one-bedroom apartment, shop at thrift stores, care about the environment, hate consumerism and BabyGap, and practice AP parenting. Let me tell you, DayOne was a great place for support, but most of the moms there are not like us!

I do drive a car (as little as possible) and eat fish and poultry, but not a whole lot.

My daughter is 11 months old and the light of my life. I am a SAHM who works two mornings a week in San Mateo. I also do some more work from home. I have a great situation.

Anyway, email me and let's meet! ang_mullen@yahoo.com.nospam (remove the .nospam to send me email)

Hi!

I live in the city and have been part of an API playgroup for almost a year now. We meet every tuesday from 12ish to 3:00ish at Douglass playground and just started another playgroup time Monday mornings at Laurel Hill playground from 9:30-12:30. The Monday playgroup isn't very well established yet but will be nice for the rainy weather since it does have an indoor area. If it's rainy on Tuesdays we meet at the Randall museum.

Anyway, it's a really nice group of mamas and little ones and being apart of it has meant so much to me. so you guys should come check it out. The ages of the kids are from a couple of months old to 5 yrs or so.

Any questions, just let me know.

Kate

hey! me,too! except i eat meat- but my son is vegetarian.i just moved back ot sf 6 weeks ago and he's still in georgia with his other mom. we were AP,cosleeping folks until our money issues got out of hand and i, the sahm, had to get a job and the only one i could find was here.now they're there and i'm here and we're all miserable. but just for one more month. once they're here,at the end of april, my son will need new friends and you sound like our kind of folks. he'll be two on thursday.i'm looking forward to being in the park again with him. so hopefully i'll meet you all then? penny

Can we play with y'all? I'm a slingin' cosleepin' mama with an almost one year old lovely little girl. We're not veggie, but eat mostly organic, have a car (I work in San Mateo) but use the bus a lot, and we cloth diaper. I have a lot of very nice friends but I would love to meet some people who don't think I am crazy for co-sleeping and not Ferberizing my daughter! And who don't think I am some sort of nut for still using a sling even though my daughter weighs 25 lbs.!

Did y'all come up with a time already? I couldn't tell when those messages were written.

Our API playgroups are still going on. We also have monthly potlucks. This month's potluck picnic (in Golden Gate Park) is also a "free day" where each family brings children's clothes/toys that are no longer needed and sets them out for a swap. Let me know if you want any more info on this or the playgroups. We always love to see new faces.

monkeysmommy and all,

If you're interested in coming to an API playgroup or potluck for the first time, leave a message at this number:

415-820-9666

Alternatively, you could also just email me directly and let me know when you want to come for the first time and I'll make sure someone is watching for you. My address is kateri@attbi.comT

Douglass playground is at 26th and Douglass in Noe Valley. The Laurel Hill playground is at Euclid and Collins in the Richmond of SF. The Douglass playground is bigger and, I feel, nicer.

Hope to hear from you!

resurrecting an old thread! do these API playgroups still happen?

i'd like to meet up with SF moms, any Bay Area moms but preferably SF cuz I don't want to drive (BART is OK). I saw a couple of recent threads with no replies. do the SF moms hang out on the East Bay thread?

i have a 9mo DD and we live downtown right now, but we're trying to buy a place :yikes:

anyone?? my DD needs to get out - she's bored of me!

resurrecting this, since we (API sf playgroup) seem to be meeting regularly at douglass park on Tuesdays. we're there at around 11:30.

if you plan on coming, make sure to let us know, so we know to look out for you. :)

let's hope it doens't get too cold again! :jammin

Hi Ana!

It is funny, I happen to be subscribed to this thread from long ago, when I posted under my previous handle, angmul. Weird.

I will see you Tuesday, haha!

Hi, I'd just like to say hello to everyone. I live in San Francisco, Cole Valley, but not due until July so not ready for any play groups yet! I'll try to pop in again when the time gets closer :thumb
