OK, I posted earlier about considering the name Nola Piper for a girl... and it's still a favorite of ours. But some others have popped up, too. The hardest part is finding a middle name that starts with P that goes with whatever first name we choose (for dh's father who passed away). So any suggestions for middles are welcome too! Our last name is Roth, by the way. Also, if any names create strong negative reactions, do let me know! Thanks!

I voted for Beatrice. I just love that name! (I like old fashioned ones). I didn't realize before I voted that you want a P middle name, but I like Paige from pp.

Beatrice Paige has a nice ring to it I think!

Is Hadi said like HAD-ee or HAY-dee?

I think Rachel Roth sounds like Rachel and Ross (from Friends). If youre not worried about that connection, it's a very pretty name!

I am partial to Audrey, as it means "noble warrior" and is the name of my best friend.

And I like Beatrice, would you mind if she or others shortened it to Bea?

Hadi would be pronounced HAD-ee. And I like Bea as a nickname, and I know it's likely to be shortened, so that's OK with me.

The Friends connection is funny -- we were talking about what P middle name we'd use for Rachel, and came up with Phoebe, and then luckily realized the connection and dismissed that thought right away! We still haven't figured out what P name works with Rachel....

I do like Beatrice Paige a lot, though dh would need to be convinced cuz for some reason he's not crazy about Paige.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

I voted for Audrey. Really I like Beatrice and Nola, too. I just thought Audrey Piper Roth had a nice ring to it. :)

I'm just butting in......I was driving a few days ago and saw a street named Nola. I thought "What a cute girl's name that could make!" So strange that I saw this post, because I never even knew it was a real name.

Nola Piper is a beautiful name.

What was your FIL's name? I'm wondering if there's a feminine version of it that would be an obvious choice. Then you could work backward to find a first name that went with it.

I really like Nola, though. It reminds me of Nora, which is the preferred version of our DC's girl name (Eleanor). :)

I chose Nola. Normally my first choice would be Audrey, but it doesn't really flow with Roth. AudRey Roth -- the R sounds are too close together. Nola Piper is a great name!

My aunt was named Beatrice and we always called her Beaty or Bea-- every woman I have met with this name is always called a "nick name" if this is your intention then you could choose this name. Paige, Pauline, Poppy

Thanks for all the replies so far! It's great to hear everyone's thoughts, since a name is such a public interface.

because, FIL's name was Phillip. We have thought of Philana, but it doesn't really seem to flow with any of our choices. Don't really like Phillipa or Phyllis (ick).

I voted for Nola. My top 2 are Nola and Beatrice. While they are nice names, I don't care as much for Audrey and Rachel with your last name.

A name on our list is Beatrix. My DP doesn't like the nickname Bea though, so this one is probably actually off our list.

I do like Hadi, just not as much as N and B.

Good luck--sounds like you are pretty close to having a name!

Oh, I love baby name threads!!! :)

I think Piper is a great middle name (also like Paige or Payton but not as much as Piper).

I can't really vote til you tell what your dd1's name is though! I like sibling names to "go".
