When pregnant?

I am taking a regular vitamin, with not much in it. And I am taking the Rainbow Light Super c, it is 1000 mg, but I was worried that is too much, so was taking halves of them.

I was going to reorder vitamins soon, and get the rainbow prenatals, should I get the extra vit c? With fall coming up and kids going back to school, we always take extra vit c, but dont know if I shuldnt be taking alot since I am pregnant.

Essentially i wouldn't go over 2500-3000mg but really you will know you are taking too much if you get diarreah.

3 grams of C is not very much

You need to look into the work of Dr. Klenner. Google him and you will have lots of reading :LOL The reason I mention him is because he worked with pregnant women and used loads of C. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=klenner+vitamin+C&spell=1

1 gram is considered by some to be just above scurvy

I am doing some searching, but not having much luck. Thanks for your links, I will go check them out!
I do have a link that talks about c dosage for kids, and have no problem with myself or my kids taking higher doses, but was unsure about pregnancy.

Thank you!

I have read that women who take large doses of Vit C during pregnancy have babies with higher than normal Vit C requirements. I don't remember the source (or the amounts) off hand but will try to track it down and post here later...

Talk with your midwife or OB about your dosing. Excess vit C has been associated with hearing defects. Search pubmed for relevant studies. If you really need it, eat oranges. Usually hard to OD the natural route.
