View Full Version : Anyone else bleeding?

I just started my ninth weeek, first pregnancy. Last Monday morning I went to the bathroom, and I had a pinkish discharge. Not alot, but it sort of freaked me out. On Wednesday morning, I woke up with blood on my pajamas! I was really freaked then. It wasn't that much blood, and I didn't lose anymore after that. Then Friday morning, I had some more of the pink discharge. I haven't had anything since then, but every morning when I wake up now, I wonder what's coming next.
I talked to my midwife and her assistant, and they told me just to take it easy, take care of myself, and not worry too much, while acknowledging the fact that it's hard to tell someone to not worry in that situation. I go for my first appointment in a few weeks, and I guess I will know something by then.
I have read that some spotting during pregnancy is not that uncommon, so I wondered if anyone here is going through this, too?

I had a couple evenings around week 5 of spotting. I totally understand feeling rattled and not knowing what to expect, although the more days that pass without anything out of the ordinary the more I'm starting to relax.
Don't know if this applies or not, but for what it's worth one of my very good friends had bleeding with her last pregnancy, was tired of being in limbo as to whether or not she was miscarrying so went to see an ob/gyn and he found that she had a polyp on her cervix that was bleeding and the baby was just fine. A few days later she had some really heavy bleeding, passed some tissue, was positive she'd miscarried, saw her doc the next day and turns out she'd passed some of the polyp and the baby was cooking along just fine. She was born in November :thumb .
All that to say, who the hell knows :shrug . Sending you peacful :sticky vibes.

Lisa, that's funny, because my midwife called yesterday to check on me, and she told me about the possibility of polyps, which I had never even thought of. Also, this happened about the time I would be expecting my period, if I were not pregnant, and my sister said that happens sometimes. It reminds me of the discussion going on about not having symptoms, and hoping it's not all in your head. I didn't feel sick or anything for several weeks, and was afraid I would get my period at the end of the month, and everyone would think I was a psychosomatic basket case!LOL I definitely feel pregnant these days, though.
Thanks for the reassurance :)

Just visiting this board because of your subject line. I'm currently 13.5 weeks along with my fourth. I spotted/bled off and on for about four weeks of my pregnancy. I did end up going in for an u/s which helped ease my mind a TON. But, I was told that there are SO many reasons - yeast infection (even if you're asymptomatic), polyps, location of implantation, straining to go to the bathroom, sex, etc. It eased my mind a bit!
HTH!

The period thing can be very true...I heard of a woman who had regular periods up until month six!
Are you on vaginal progesterone supplements? The progesterone can cause blood vessels on the cervix to swell and leak/burst, causing spotting. A close friend of mine had spotting through week 14 (the week she went off progesterone supplements).
I don't know what your stance on ultrasound is, but now that you're past the big week 8, you might want to consider having your little bean checked out. If you see a heartbeat, the chances of m/c are slim to none. If the spotting continues to worry you, and you're less mobile because of it, an u/s could be worth it.
Oh....another possibility is that there was a second gestational sac, a twin pregnancy that didn't develop. Sometimes that can cause a little bleeding (without bothering the other baby).
:hug and :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky!!!!!!

For REAL?! Why doesn't anyone tell you this when you get them?! Could've spared me some freaking out. Good to know. Thanks!

Thanks, mamas! This may sound weird, but I'm not really that worried right now. I mostly posted just to see how many others had this going on. My midwife said I could get a free u/s at a college in her town, if I wanted one, but I decided to wait. I will see the m/w in three weeks, and I can wait until then and see what happens.
No, I'm not on any kind of progesterone supplements. I had an aunt that had a period while she was pregnant, so I know that does happen. I guess it can be anything. Like I said, I'm not really worried anymore, because nothing big is happening, and I feel pretty normal, for a pregnant woman, anyway :nut . Thanks for easing my mind, though. It helps to read other reasons for bleeding, other than a possible m/c.

Me too! Wow, I'm glad to read your post. I'm due one day after you (FWIW) March 7. Today is my 9 week mark, and I have a tiny bit of spotting. I wasn't sure it was mine (maybe tmi) cause it was just a small bit in the public toilet stall, and nothing when I wiped, but later I did a manual check inside and got a pink smear on the toilet paper. Still nothing enough that it is "bleeding" but really scarry... especially since I had a m/c at week 5 a couple of months befor conceiving this babe.
It is also around the time I would have my period, so I'm holding on to that hope. I have an appointment w/ a midwife (at a hospital) next week. I wasn't planning on getting an ultrasound, but I just might for peace of mind. I just haven't really had many symptoms at all the whole 9 weeks. Exhaustion, sore breasts, once in awhile nausia, but not real sickness. :fingersx: for those "symptoms" to continue!
It is really reassuring to hear others that have had some spotting and been alright. I am just going to take it easy and send good vibes into the universe that all is well. Extra vibes for you, too! :sticky

9 weeks here also :love
I started cramping on Sunday last week.... no biggie, cramped with last preg.
I started 'spotting' on Tuesday night of last week...no biggie, 'spotted' with previous preg.
The next day went to the PLOP JOHN(I know ewwww.. :Puke) at work (work on a construction site) to find I was dripping BLOOD!!! :scared
I freaked out and :bolt straight to the hosp... knowing that they could do nothing for me if this life does not stay.
I had my HCG level tested and an u/s. Seen the babys heartbeat :love and that very much set my mind at ease.
They told me to go home.. NO LIFTING, NO EXCESSIVE BENDING, NO WALKING, NO CLIMBING, NO SEX. To follow up with a sOB asap!... uhhuh! :thumb (see where that got me!!

Of course I asked the nurse to repeat the last part to ensure DH heard it ! :LOL
Well, that shot my job... I lift, bend, walk, climb (no I dont have SEX ON THE JOB.... Im a painter :LOL )
So, I have been out of work for a week now and :crying have soo many bills to pay!!!
I had taken it really easy on Thursday and Friday.. no more bleeding, no spotting, no cramping.... so I went about cleaning the house up and doing laundry on Saturday..........................
BIG mistake... woke up on Sunday to a gush of blood and cramping again!!! :scared
Been trying sooo hard to keep my feet up. I begin to feel better so start doing little things.. and cramping begins AGAIN!
Still up in the air as to what this baby is going to do, but whatever choice he (she) makes I will be okay with. :love

Just want to pop in here and say I am having a little bit of pink discharge, spotting and today slight (and small amount of) brownish dishcarge. I did have u/s and they found a small cyst filled with blood where the placenta formed, which midwife says is most likely the source of the bleeding. She said not to be concerned if I see more as it drains, unless it is very heavy like a period.
RedOakMomma.......is that true about seeing the heartbeat?? I saw the heartbeat at week 7 with my u/s and it gave me great reassurance....however, every time I feel a cramp or see spotting, I wonder if miscarriage is still possible once I saw the heartbeat.
Hope you are sooooo right!
