I second the notion! Does anyone know of any?
I used to love to stay at B&B's and Historical Inns & the like before I had the baby. We haven't done it recently cause we're not sure if the Inns would be okay with it.
I did call the Pig Hill Inn over the past year, which is in Cold Spring on Hudson, New York. They weren't overjoyed that we had a baby, and said that if the baby cried at night we'd have to take him outside to not disturb the other guests. :eek We didn't end up going. That's near West Point. She did say it was okay to bring the baby, as long as he didn't keep everyone up.
Another place I stayed before I had the baby was 10,000 Delights, on Keuka Lake. In the Finger Lakes Region. But that's way too far from NYC for what you're looking for, I think. They did have a seperate lake house, where you wouldn't be disturbing anyone if the baby were to wake.
That might be the key, actually. Finding places where they have a seperate honeymoon cottage or lake house that's away from the other guests. Yes, I would start there. And if I were traveling with my ds, I'd bring my portable booster seat & tray, cause I'm sure the Inns won't have high chairs & that sort of thing.
I stayed at a nice one in Syracuse, too, and I bet they allow kids cause the rooms are not right on top of each other. It's not a B&B, it's a Historical Inn. But I think Syracuse is too far, too.

Thanks again AutumnWind!
I had noticed in a book that the Pig Hill said they were child friendly & was surprised. I had stayed there before ds was born and it was a wonderful place but the walls were really thin, we could hear the neighbor's entire conversation! I can't believe they told you you'd have to take the baby outside, that's horrible!!!
A friend had suggested the Mohonk Mountain House, so we're going to try it (Luckily they just happened to have a good discount rate for the weekend we're going) & it's a "kids weekend" so they're supposed to have tons of activities for kids. I can't wait!
I really like you're idea about the cottage houses. I think I'll try that next time.

When is the children's weekend at the Mohonk? I've always wanted to go there.

We went to one on December 14th weekend, but I think they have a couple throughout the year. The website is www.mohonk.com. We had an incredible time!!! The service was so incredible!!! They had so many activities, great entertainment (John Cashore marionnettes), great food. Not to mention the place itself is so beautiful. The price seems high but with everything that was included it was well worth it. When calling for reservations ask if they have any discounts going on & you may get a reduced rate.

Hey Autumn Wind,
Click on accomodations & then rates. Make sure & check out the special offers page also. I think the best thing to do is to call though for discounts, bc the discount I got wasn't listed on the site. On kids weekends, children are free.
That was the occasion we were going for also, my birthday!
