I currently do a flat-felled or sometimes a french seam for my sling seams. I really loath both seams, they take me forever!

Could I serge the seam instead? I have a fleece Hotsling and it is serged, it has worked beautifully for nearly 2 years now. Is the seam integrity different for a woven than it would be for fleece?

Anyone know?

The seam integrity for a woven would definitely be more of an issue than for fleece - fleece doesn't unravel much at all, whereas a woven could pull out pretty easily. The more lines of stitching you have, the more lines of stitching there are that need to be broken through before you get an accident. I usually do a french seam, and then flat-fell it with 2 more rows of topstitching! I like the way it looks, and I like the extra security, just for peace of mind. I think I'd have a hard time bringing myself to use a sling that's just serged once at a stresspoint.
