There are many studies that say that homebirth is a safe option for "low risk" pregnancies. I want to know if they included previous C-section as low risk in the study. One study I am thinking of in particular is the BMJ study that just came out recently.

Anybody have a study that includes VBACers as low risk?

hmm...there doesn't seem to be anything pertaining to VBAC in that study, does there?

My guess, based on bits and pieces of research I've done over the last six months or so, is that VBAC won't be considered low risk by your caregiver (and/or the laws and insurance policies in your state). But, there are still homebirth midwives who will attend VBACs, depending on where you live. If you don't rupture, then you're in the same demographic as a non-VBAC mom, imo. I know there are many women on these boards who have had HBACs with no problems at all. I was too chicken to go that route, though.

Here in Colorado, homebirth midwives are legally allowed to attend HBAC's so I'm assuming they don't think they're high risk.

According to "Obsteteric Myths versus Research Realities" the risk of UR is 0.3%; the risk of other things requiring an emergency c/sec (cord prolapse, hemorrage, fetal distress) are 2.7%.

I was considered "low risk" by both my OB and my midwives, or they would not have been supportive of my plans to vbac. Licensed midwives in TN are not allowed to attend "high risk" pregnancies/births.
