Are you talking about BFP? BFP stands for Big Fat Positive. BFN is Big Fat Negative.

Mammo2Sammo did you test again this morning?
no not yet, I don't feel like spending lots of money, haven't gotten to the $$ tree store, and haven't decided on a midwife so I can't go to an office yet.
I really do think I'm pregnant, but DH and I both feel a bit like we can't start fully celebrating yet. (although I have already read through a book of baby names - who would have thought there were so FEW baby name options in a book that is 400 pages long?)
Maybe I should splurge and get another test.
I am kind of enjoying this quiet feeling of uncertainty, very different than how I felt with DS.

Be lonely no more Ms. Missy! I had originally posted my first thread in the 'Help Me I'm Lost!' part of the forums. I was writing a reply to all of the nice mamas out there when I decided I just had to do this test right then and there. This was Monday I do believe when lo and behold, BFP, really fast. Could not contain myself and wrote a tiny word river in that post about how excited I am! They say I'm due around May 1, end of April. Many congratulations to you!!!

When are you due?
Well, I'm not quite sure. Here are the facts that I know:
my cycle has been a bit wonky the past few months, I am usually 28 days, very regular. I believe due to traveling a lot, my cycle has shortened (approx 26 days). Also, my fertility has changed from 5 full days of fertile cervical fluid to questionable approx a day.
I believe my luteal phase remains at 16 days.
last period 7/27
baby making sex 8/6 (fertile signs much earlier than expected)
ovulation pain 8/9
any ideas?
merrick
08-26-2005, 10:07 PM
Hmm, I'm not sure. But with the bd on 8/6 and ovu pain 8/9 I'd say you're probably due around when I am, May 2. I'm pretty certain that I ovulated on the 9th, however I had my ovulation pain several days before. Not sure if that was really ovu pain or just something else though.

Yeah I feel pretty good. Not having that many yucky symptoms, just really hurty breasts and a little heartburn. But right around AF I usually get this stuff anyway, the breast thing more than anything so nothing really out of the ordinary. I guess I'm not necessarilly hoping for one or the other (Little Pea here will be my first) but everyone around me has girls so that would be pretty sweet as far as clothes and stuff goes. I'm so :bouncy with excitement! I'm learning my way around the posts and everything so I've been seeing alot of great advice and you ladies have helped me out quite a lot! :rocks Congrats, congrats to you!!! kisha-mae the :knit wife of a hunka, hunka burnin' love :love

Anyway....
So who's here so far? Anyone else nursing? (Well I know you are Merrick since we were on the nursing mamas getting pregnant thread at the same time!!!! ;) ) My dd is 14 mos old and loves her boobies (well my boobies actually :LOL). Yeah, Mace is still nursing. Maddie nursed until I got pg with Mace then weaned around my 2nd trimester (she was about 3.5). Mace is a bit younger so I have no idea what to expect in regard to his wanting to keep nursing or not.
I will admit that *I* was actually quite uncomfortable nursing Maddie during my early pg (physicially uncomfortable) and I'm wondering if I'll start feeling the same way with Mace. I kind of felt twinges of those same feelings before I got my bfp and that's what made me wonder if I'd gotten pg. But since, it's been fine.
eta: I'm a dork, meant to say CONGRATS Erin!!!! :D We're not telling anyone in the near future either so I need places like this to obsess lol Unfortunately, I know many in our families won't be happy :irked: so that's why we're waiting until the last possible moment to tell.

I took two more(did i mention I am a test aholic???) different tests ,one last night and one this morning, well this morning wasn't that faint anymore!!!!
I am :jumpers: for joy but DH i a lot less enthused(sp??)
He wanted to A, wait a few more months and B, try for a boy,you know with the timing thing.you see with Griff we couldn't "DTD' on 'o' day as I was seriously hungover :bag: another story for another day :LOL
so I made a feeble attempt the next day and mister Griff was conceived.welll with Issi it was our honeymoon weekend and I 'o' on the saturday,we married and celebrated on the friday night :bouncy actually we 'celebrated' ;) all weekend so who knows. thing is we DTD a good few days after 'o' signs so if there really is any truth to the notion then wouldn't we more likely get a boy anyway???
I just hope for a happy healthy :baby for all of us :thumb

hey Cheryl
I know many in our families won't be happy so that's why we're waiting until the last possible moment to tell
Isn't this a shame that we worry about what others are going tothink about news that we think is fantastic??. I know what you mean.My SIL and BIL announced two weeks ago that she is PG with their first child,I think DH is worried that they will think we are overshadowing their chance at all the attention as it's their first.our Issi was the first Grandchild and Griff was the first grandson and he has his Greatgrandfathers name (he is a very special man to all the family).I mentioned to my MIL on Sat(before i thought i may be PG and tested)that I was starting to get the baby itch again and she turned around and said "oh no not yet!!!" :irked: excuse me!!!i'll have children when i want(or when I get caught out :o )but I will be happy whenever and just let them feel my wrath if they dare say it's the wrong time!!dh I can understand and handle, anyone else.......

Congrats Natasha! I just knew you were!
Yeah, my parents didn't have the best reaction in the world (well mostly my mom) but I still couldn't wait to tell them. My mom was kind of like "well, if that's what you want, I'm excited for you"
I think she thinks I'm gonna go nuts with 2. Thanks for the vote of confidence mom. SHe keeps saying things like, "you won't be able to do THAT when the new baby comes." Gee mom, I don't know if you remember, but I have had a baby! I know what it's like! Of course now I have my older child as well so I know it will be harder, but golly, I think I'm doing a pretty good job right now and I think I can handle it.
My MIL on the other hand was superexcited. She was the first person I told after ds and dh. Of course she has been bugging us for another ever since ds1 was born! She is so excited she has no problem watching ds while I take naps (although usually he naps with me), and helping me out around the house. I guess she would have done that anyway, but now she's happier about it!
All you nursing mamas, how are your nipples holding up? Mine are very very sore. Sometimes when ds latches on it feels like a knife sticking in me! But after that it's usually ok. I'm hoping it gets better, but as long as it doesn't get any worse we'll manage.
I'm planning on ordering "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" as well. I looked for it at the library today, but they didn't have it. :irked: Nor did they have Birthing from Within or the Sears Pregnancy book. It's a huge library with 11 floors!! You'd think they'd have at least one of those. OH well.
Hope all you mamas are feeling good!

it was the slicing pain in my nipples that gave me the suspicion that I might be pregnant :LOL Considering Nursing with Griff was a breeze pain wise and now i get that 'awful curl my toes try not to cry and not to squeeze Griff too hard ' pain :nut
I would like to read the birthing from within too.I got bored waiting for kid cooperation from my library and just went and bought it in the end!! that will probably end up happening again :LOL I like to have my books on hand as refrence :down
So who's thinking they might go for a homebirth??
my friend is due in 5 weeks and she is having one,she has a great midwife and I am thinking I would like to try it.I have speedy(as in "meep, meep' you know, the fast bird and cyote))labors and my midwife and doc who I love are in Newyork, now we are in CT they both said that I would probably deliver on the highway if i tried to get to them :LOL
well we'll see.there is also a birthing center 30 mins away,so I need to do my research, and what better place to start than here :rocks

Yeah, I've had issues with our Central Library here in the A. Central being the key word I thought! They hardly have anything that I'm remotely interested in as far as birth/pregnancy/children etc. are concerned. The only thing I saw was this massage/accupressure type book that I can't remember the name of at the moment that I even sort of liked. Having A Baby Naturally has been really helpful to me. I like how Peggy O'Mara isn't all patronizing and all. My sort of SIL (sort of b/c she and DH's brother are no longer together) gave me the What To Expect book a while ago when she realized how interested in midwifery I am and where as it seems that this book has helped a lot of pregnant mamas, which I am very happy for, I find that it doesn't do much for me. I dunno, I find it kind of biased and irritating but I take what I can from it. Anyhoo, people are really weird, especially about mamas and such. How rude to have the audacity to tell someone when they should have children :eyesroll My sister gets all kinds of crap about my little 6 mth old niece. I'm not having it goshdangit! I just don't wanna hear it. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to politely tell people to take a hike when they feel that their unwarrented advice is especially needed. :blah :blah :blah My crunchiness is too much for so many people even friends and family. DH and I weren't sure whether or not we wanted to tell anyone at first either cause we knew the onslaught would be upon us! :LOL I would love :throb to have a homebirth but a friend of mine, actually a friend I've known for quite a while, who got me into Mothering Mag 4 or 5 years ago told me that it was illegal for MW to do HB in GA. Is that true does anyone of you ladies happen to know? We've got 2 hospitals on either side of us within 5 miles and the one I was born at has a birth center so I'll probably end up going there. We've got to check it out. I've got my heart set on a :aqua: OMG, once again I've written a river! :blush Sorry about that ladies. Ugh, can I shop anywhere affordable that's not a mega chain? :irked: That's another rant for another time... :flipped

Thinking about it! :) DH couldn't even talk about it with dd without getting himself all tied up in knots. :(
But I had a beautiful home labor and hospital birth (was only at the hospital for 45 min before she was born) so I'm hoping how that he's seen the process he'll at least consider it. :p

Hi Mamas, I am nursing my 17 month old and am looking forward to learning from those that have done this before. My older DD pretty much had stopped nursing when I got PG with #2. But I don't think DD#2 is going to wean anytime soon :love I am hoping she nurses straight through, I have such nipple soreness at the beginning when the newborn starts to nurse that It would be so nice to be all ready to go when baby is born.
Anyway :hola:

Wanting another homebirth here too!
We had Mace at home, everything went perfectly. But fast forward a couple years and dh told me he was very nervous about it and was scared. Even after all the research and everything - but of course *I* did most of the reading and research. Maybe that was/is the problem :LOL
So we'll have to discuss it. And of course money is an issue.
Oh, and mamacatsbaby...
As of 2003 the practice of direct entry midwives is technically a misdemeanor. A number of these midwives are practicing, mostly in the metro Atlanta area. However, no direct entry midwife has been investigated, charged, or convicted since 1991. Most midwives practicing in GA hold national ceritifcation through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM). This credential and/or exam is recognized in every state that certifies direct-entry midwives with the exception of New York and Rhode Island.

I def. see it michelle! Welcome!
I noticed you mentioned something about hte digital tests on your blog. From what I've read, those are not as sensitive as some of the others, so if you still want to confirm, get one of the regular ones instead. I have heard the Equates are good and are reliable. I got a BFP at 11 DPO with a FRER, and one at 12 DPO with Equate. However, I found one of my Equates that I took at 10 DPO and thought was negative a few days later and it had a super dark line!

That's weird about the Equate test! When we ttc our 2nd, I used an Equate and it looked positive. I really can't remember how long after I peed on the stick that I looked, but it looked positive and I wasn't preggers. Maybe an evaporation line and maybe a false positive. The month that I was pregnant with ds I used en e.p.t. at 10dpo (light but positive), an Equate at 11dpo (negative) and another Equate at something like 14dpo and it was finally positive.
Now I'm 13dpo (cycle day 28, normally 26 days) and just waiting for a nice dark line :W I just wish I could have the old kind of e.p.t. I really do think these +/- tests are harder to read! Hmm... I was thinking of checking Family Dollar to see what tests they have. I've used a Dollar General $4 test and an e.p.t. with the +/-.

Ok, so at the VERY start of this thread I said a congrats to Merrick and said we'd be trying in Sept (figuring it would take a few months....blah, blah, blah)
But, apparently I will be joining the ranks a bit early. I'm due May 9th. My dd is 7 mos old. Unfortunately I'm not nursing as we were unable (major breast surgery) My dd is a wild child, learning to walk, crawled out of her crib while I hosed out a diaper (we caught her that time) and then on the weekend I was feeding the dogs and put her in the pack and play--I'd only gotten to the second dog and I heard a thud, she'd crawled out, cried for about 30 seconds and then crawled off to get into more trouble.
My last pregnancy was horrible. I was sick and had a pic line placed until I think 28 weeks, then I had pre-e and Molly was taken by c-section at 37 weeks after a 10 day hospital stay.
I will be on heparin injections, progesterone suppositories and prednisone for this pregnancy as well. All through the last pregnancy I kept wondering why on earth anyone would do it more than once--as soon as I held her I could hardly remember how hard it was :LOL
While I'm due in May, I will most likely be delivered in April.

Congratulations Shannon! I hope your pg goes better this time. Sorry you had such a rough time of it before. I know what you mean about the pg amnesia though. I didn't have anywhere near as hard a time as you, but I was really sick from 9wks until halfway through the second trimester. I distinctly remember telling people it was the worst I'd ever felt and that I just wanted to die. But here I am again, happy as a clam! Talk to me again in a few weeks when the m/s hits! I'm hoping it won't be as bad this time. Maybe it won't be for you either.

Candace, I know, I remember, my hip kept dislocating and I hobbled into my OB's office (I have a FANTASTIC ob--without her, I just know Molly wouldn't be here) and she looked at me with a sympathetic look and I just said "Why in hell would anyone do this more than once????" She said "I'm not sure, I adopted my son" :LOL

Chiropractic, chiropractic, chiropractic! :nod
I'm uninsured and I'll have to pay out of pocket, but I'll definitely be making sure I go in for an adjustment at least a couple times during the last trimester. I get that sciatic nerve thing going and an adjustment fixes me right up!

Yeah, I was being adjusted 3x a week, I have rheumatoid arthritis and my right hip is in pretty rough shape, when the hormones relaxed the joint it just sort of fell apart. Fortunately I found a way I could roll on it to get it sort of back in but it still hurt like hell when it happened

Hello ladies!
I just got off the phone with the doc and my blood beta count showed positive (only 135 though). I am exited, but nervous. We lost our first son at 24 weeks due to a placental abrubtion and I am only 3 months past that loss. Anyways, I am looking forward to going through this journey with you lovely ladies. :hola:
