We never discuss names with anyone, IRL or online, but I love to hear other people expound on baby names. (And my dh and I are so slow in the process, so maybe you'll inspire me to get moving. :LOL )

So... if anyone wants to share, I'm all ears... :LOL

And I'll share a couple of links:

http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/?sex=female&yob=2002

and our favorite: http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html

I'm glad you started this thread! I've been wanting to do something similar, I love hearing baby names.

We've had our first names chosen for awhile.

girl: Iris
and possible middle names are: Jayne, Kathryn...
we also love Elena for a first name, but Iris is at the top of the list.

boy: Miles William

We thought we'd had dd's name chosen when we found out we were pregnant, then throughout the pregnancy we kept adding names that we loved. We did end up going with the name we'd originally chosen. :)

Any input on middle names for Iris would be greatly appreciated. I can't seem to find one I like! Maybe Iris Elena?

Boy: Angelus Chirstoph
(notice no "er")

Girl: Palaminia Enriqueta
Don't laugh. First name is my mothers, she died 01/11/200 RIP... Middle name is his grandmothers. They sound so beautiful together.

DH and I disagree on every name we come up with. I settled for Kyles name. It was dh's favorite and he wouldnt budge. Sean we named on the way to the hospital. We are considering Reese for a boy and I would love Elizabeth for a girl since it was my grammies name, but dh doesnt like it :(

I hear ya.... we have these spats of name tossing... it's so like that episode of Friends... "Veto!" Ugh. We have a girl name, but if babe is a boy, the poor thing will undoubtedly be called "hey! You!" :LOL

I get really bored at work sometimes, so I had a pretty lengthy list of names - DH and I looked over them last night and he told me his top 2 for each gender.

For boys - we agree on Jacob or Connor

For girls - Julianna or Meghan

No middle names yet. And these could totally change too. We're pretty "normal" when it comes to names.

I like to play the name game...

I really like the name Obadiah, I don't think it's so odd :wink. I also like Iris quite a bit.

our girl name is chosen: Honor Sloan; we'd call her Nora.
Her hebrew name would Norah Shalom, which literally (but ungramatically) means "awesome peace."
We never did settle on a girl's name when I was pg with ds. Good thing he turned out to be a boy.

A boy's middle name would also be Sloan, to honor my great-grandfather. The first names we're batting around at the moment are Ezekiel (Zeke), Isaac, Jonah, Abraham (Bram), and Daniel. They all have direct Hebrew equivalents, so that makes it easy there.

DS is named Nathan Samuel (Noach Simcha). We call him Nat, like dh's late grandfather.

We've got it a little easier: I get to have final say on the English names, and DH has final over the middle name: the Chinese name. Here's my list:

girl: Kalinen or Vida

boy: Maxwell (I've always wanted my own little "Wild Thing") or Jeffrey

gender neutral, which is where we are now: Dumpling! (Pot Sticker was a little too obvious and cumbersome to say!) :LOL I have a feeling this one is going to go by Dumpling for a long while!!!

Wow! These names are SO creative!

I am truly not sure... we're thinking that we won't find out the sex this time because we're trying to avoid all interventions. If we're having a boy, maybe Lucas William Thomas or something... and if it is a girl... I have no idea! Something very different, I guess we'll have to start looking!

I would love Elizabeth for a girl since it was my grammies name, but dh doesnt like it :(
What about Eliza? To choose a name for our dd (we did not know the sex ahead of time) I made huge lists of names I liked (male & female) and let DH veto the ones he didn't like. We eventually could agree on 3 names of each gender & narrowed it down to one of each a week before - Caroline Anne! - was born.

We are ttc#2 and I love Stella or Ava if we have another girl - Jasper or Cassius if we have a boy.

When DD was born her name if she was a boy would have been Maxwell David. I'm not sure how I feel about reusing that name, but I love Max and David is DH's middle name. We had such a hard time with boy's names last time, I don't know if we'll be able to agree on another one!

This time aound I haven't thought too much about a girl's name. The middle name will be Lorraine, after my mother's middle name other than that we'll have to fight it out. It seems really early to me to be naming this babe. I think I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of being pg.

BTW, I like Obidiah too, and Bernice I think the girls name you've choosen is beautiful! I think names should have some type of signifigance.

As for boys, no idea!!

My DH is Jewish, and it's custom to name a child after a deceased relative. You take the first letter of the deceased person, and use that. We named our DS, Dylan, after my DH's grandmother Dina. We are limited now for letters as the only ones 'left' in the family are 'I" and "F". I'm not Jewish, and I am trying to compromise and perhaps use initials from MY side of the family. I guess it doesn't really work like that. So, working with the I's at the moment, we've come up with...

Girl; Ivy (I like Iris too!!), and a variation of Eliza - Ilyza
Boy; Ingram or Izak

Personally I like the name Marley (girl), but then we'd have two "Bob's" as kids (Bob) Dylan and (Bob) Marley, who are (incidentally) my DH's all time favorites - not sure about that one!

For a boy I like Harrison (DH doesn't like "Harry")

Luckily we have more than 30 weeks to figure this all out!

Fun to think about, however! And, I love seeing other people's ideas. THere are so many great options!

Cheers

We had names picked out for #1 YEARS before she was ever concieved! This time our name conversations aren't going very well :LOL My Dh is insisting on using the boy name we had picked out for Anna which is Alexander Joseph (Alex) but I don't want to use it. I think that the sound of Alexander doesn't go well with our last name and one of my Dh's coworkers is named Alex (seems weird to use the name now). We will definitely use Joseph as a middle name though because it is DH's middle name, his dad's MN, and my Granddad's first name. I like Aiden or Miles for a first name but I'm still open for suggestions.

For a girl I like Audrey or Leah...Dh likes Alyssa or Maya. For a middle name I either like a flower name like Violet or Rose (Daisy and Lily are out because we have pets with those names :LOL ) or I like a virtue name like Faith, Hope or Joy. DD's name is Anna Grace so we want something that goes well with that. I'm really partial to Audrey Rose right now.

I have a feeling this baby is a boy (of course I've been wrong the last 2 times I've guessed the sex of someone's elses baby so who knows), but I want to pick out a name for each 'just in case'. We will hopefully find out the sex around 20 weeks and we'd like to have names picked out before then. So that leaves us less than 12 weeks to figure it out!

If it's a girl, we feel pretty sure about Finley - we kinda just threw it out there but now ds is convinced he wants a baby sister and he wants to name her Finley. it's sooo cute.....he puts his hand on my belly every night and says 'Good night, Finley'. so, yeah, i think we're sold on that name.....

i have no idea for a boy name....i like Alden...but a girl i know named her son Alden so i don't know. i barely talk to her anymore, but we're still in the same circles. so i probably won't use it. we'll see....

If it's a girl it'll be Mathilde Madeleine. Mathilde because my DH LOVES the name, Madeleine for his grandma.

DD is Hazel Virginie---Hazel because I LOVE that name, Virginie for my grandma Virginia.

Last time we'd almost settled on Ansel Ronald (my dad is Ronald) for a boy but weren't entirely convinced. Now that we have Hazel, Ansel is out of the running---too similar.

We've already been debating boy's names...have plenty of time I guess. Secretly I think we're both hoping for another girl though. If it's a boy don't tell him I said that!

oof. this is hard for me this time. last time, i knew for sure if it was a boy i wanted to name him liam. thankfully, dh loved the name too.

this time, i don't know if we are on the same page at all for names. good thing we have 8 months to think about it! :LOL

right now, for girls, i'm really partial to Rowan and Ainsley. I also like Maeve, Tabitha, Ione and Kathleen. dh likes Inanna. it's nms, and it doesn't go w/our last name at all, but he keeps bringing it up (partly to torture me, i'm sure).

for boys, i like Simon, Graham (or Graeme), Finn, Thaddeus, Quinn...there are more, but i can't think of them. pg brain strikes again.

boy: Maxwell (I've always wanted my own little "Wild Thing")

I LOVE Max!!! I might have to ... borrow that.... :p

DH is so convinced babe is a girl, he wont even discuss boy names.

I guess there's time after... I didnt have a name for like a week, cause everyone told mom I was going to be a boy. :LOL

We've had names picked out for awhile for girls, but I have a feeling it's going to be a boy, but just after we found out we were pg we picked on a boy's name.

For a girl: Miranda Bliss or
Savannah-my dh was born in Savannah, GA. My friend took the name though cuz I told her dh our names we picked before they even started trying -that was dumb of me cuz now they used it so maybe I can do Savannah Grace (my grandma's name) and use the name Grace.

For a boy: James Roger (my dh's best friend and my dh's name as the middle since he has his dad's first name as a middle and his dad's middle was his grandpa's first name, family tradition)

This is fun I'm glad someone posted this thread. :love

I am Jewish; each of our children has a Hebrew name (an actual, Hebrew name, not just "derived from Hebrew") which we use and an English name which they can use later if they want to. All of the dead people for several generations in both of our families have children named for them (at least one!) already, so we have to either go back farther or start from scratch. I desperately wanted to name BeanBean "Ender Akiva" and call him Akiva, but Mike wouldn't go for it. I may lobby for it again. :thumb The hardest part of this is that Mike likes a lot of names which have direct Hebrew cognates, but he prefers the English version of the names which grate on me because they just sound... wrong! Mike likes "Nathaniel," I prefer "Netanyahu," and on and on. :nut We don't have this much trouble with girl's names, though; BooBah's name was on a short list before she was concieved, and I think that we'll go to another name on the list for this baby if it's a girl.

I'm pretty sure that we're having at least one boy. We have a harder time agreeing on boy's names, so we're already discussing this one's name. Hopefully we'll be decided before the third trimester commences, because I tend to get very stressed out about this.

Francesca is beautiful! Dh is not going for it, though. :( He said Frances would be fine, but Iris Frances? The rhyming bothers me!
It took awhile for Iris to grow on dh, now he loves it and claims it was his idea. :irked:

Dh and I have had our names picked out for a long time now.
Girl: Natasha Rose (we love the name Natasha, and Rose after my MIL)

Boy: Patrick (and we're still discussing over the second name - I want Ryan, dh wants Carl (with a 'C').

we have such a long way to go, but for a girl we are going to go with Preslie, no I am not an elvis fan.
Dh wasn't a big fan of it but after we had a talk he agreed that he liked the name and if the baby was girl, we'd use it.

For a boy no idea, i love Elliot, but dh hates it, and he loves Harrison, but to me it just seems so old , but i don't mind the nn harry so we'll see

I still have 35weeks to worry lol

and for a boy-Eli Karrick :love

We were able to zero in on a boy name pretty easily ... it will be Graham Michael (Graham, because we love that name and Michael is the middle name of my boyfriend, and his dad's middle name). I made a desperate play for Oliver Michael, but DB just wasn't having it lol

For a girl's name, we're having a hard time. We both like Caroline. I love Stella, Helena (prononced Helen-ah, not Hel-AY-nah) and Lucia (Loo-shah), but DB is not really feeling those. I've been sweetly whispering looooooooooshaaaaaaaa in his ear while he sleeps, but so far, no luck. Lucia Caroline sounds so cute to me ... grrrrrrr

Names, names, names- alwasy the biggest disagreement in our relationship. We never agree on anything. With Zachary, I let dh pick as a compromise to not use his (dh's) full name + jr. I just really did not want a junior, kwim? With Alden, I picked it and dh had to like it. This time, dh claims that it's "his" turn.. he still likes Caroline for a girl which would have been Alden's name if he had been a girl , but I don't like to re-use names. I just feel like our time for a Caroline has passed.

I like Magdalene for a girl, but no middle names yet- some that I like, but none that I love. For a boy, I'm not sure- it's going to be hard to beat Alden- I really love his name. It's going to take a while to find somethign else I love.
