Aloha!
My husband and I are from Oahu. We now live in Oregon, but all our family still lives over there--north shore area.
Our first baby was born in Honolulu.

I used a Nojo sling for ds, it was a gift and I did not know anything about them. Well, he was a BIG baby and it was not very comfortable, but I still used it all the time.
I now have a fleece pouch for baby #2, it is wonderful! But I'm thinking it would be too warm to use it in Hawaii.
And when we come, I want dd in the sling constantly. Lots of kissing aunties and cousins, kwim?
What types/fabrics do you suggest? I should probably post this in Life with a Babe also, but wanted a kama'aina perspective :)

I've heard good things about The nest sling, and the maya wrap.

My husband graduated from Kahuku in '89, he grew up in Laie.

Bet you know each other, or at least the same people!

We moved here when DD was 5 months old and we stuck with our NoJo which in retrospect may have been a mistake. All the quilting and padding made everyone involved hot and sweaty. I know a number of women here who are thrilled with their Maya's.

I believe you can get mesh slings at Taylor Made Treasures (http://www.taylormadetreasures.com)
