Hey all,
I just watched 5 to 8 children aged 9 months to 11 years (including DS) for mil for 2 weeks while she was on vacation. I was worried and sad because I know that some of them get spanked at home. :( Well, I did everything as GD as I could, no time-outs, no yelling, no punishments. (MIL does use time-outs so they are used to this)
When one of the children did something inappropriate I got down and connected with them and told them it was not okay to do x,y,z. I redirected until i was blue in the face. I tried to unite them. If they got wild and crazy in the house, we went outside to the park or to play in the water or mud (i had to wash all of their clothes)
And it worked. (sigh of relief). Now, I know it was only for 2 weeks, but it was a great 2 weeks. I used so many ideas that I have learned here & in so many of the books that I have read. (that i learned about here). I really felt connected to these kids.
