Has anyone ever experienced yeast infections during pregnancy? I think I might have one, but am not sure. I've been taking probiotics and the symptons seem to come and go. Any suggestions?

I had one early on in my pg, and my midwife suggested taking a fresh, pealed clove of garlic, stringing non-flavored dental floss thought it so it has a string (like a tampon), slathering a little olive or veggie oil on it (for lubrication) and inserting it like a tampon before I went to bed, removing it in the morning. She said to do this for 3 nights, fresh one each time of course. It did get rid of my sypmptoms.

But now I seem to have a more severe one and doing that didn't completely resolve it. If yours isn't too bad though I would recommend it.

Actually the first time I sent my husband to the store for garlic and he came back with something that was related to garlic but wasn't, and I tried it anyways. :innocent But is did work! Maybe I should go back and get that again instead! I can't remember what it is called though. I don't cook much.

Inserting a probiotic capsule works rather well. I used 1 cap 3x a day for two days I think and it worked great. Mine was bad so the garlic didnt help me.

I thought I had a yeast infection, so I went to my OB/MW's office and they tested me and said I had no yeast infection (I've never had one), but they said I had a bacterial infection, Vaginosis. Yuck. I tried the probiotics but they didn't work. The doctor said they can sometimes take a very long time to work, if at all, depending on what imbalance you have. She prescribed a antibacterial cream, and I was scared to take it because normally I use natural products and I'm highly sensitive skin-wise.
I read on the internet how these infections can possibly bring on preterm births and used the medicine. It seemed to work, thank goodness, and it didn't burn or anything.
Sorry if this is TMI. :blush
I would check with your doctor and have yourself tested.

I had 2 YI's this pregnancy. I take probiotics, but I got both of them after travelling and I KNOW it's b/c I don't eat right when I travel. I'm allergic to dairy and it's so hard to avoid if you're eating in restaraunts or even in relative's houses. :rolleyes Anyway, my mw told me to insert a probiotic capsule before bed every night for a week and it worked!

During my last pregnancy I unwittingly had a yeast infection for the entire 2nd trimester. When I finally figured it out, I tried probiotics, and homoepathic suppositories, which had worked for me well before. These didn't work at all though, probably because the infection was so well established. My midwife prescribed one of the over-the-counter one-day vaginal suppositories (sorry don't remember the name but it wasn't monostat). This was the one and only "drug" I took the whole pregnancy - but boy oh boy was it worth it. The downside was no sex for a week - but sex had been painful because of the yeast infection, so that wasn't a big deal since we had unfortunately been avoiding it anyway. So, for me, this little insert was a great solution.
