Cayenne? Shephard's Purse? Something else?

My iron has been low (yes, I know it's normal) lately. My mw isn't overly concerned but we want to get it up some before the birth b/c of the risk of bleeding. Today my count was about 10.4, up from around 9.7.

Honestly, how big of a risk is it?

What is best to have on-hand to take if I do bleed more than "normal"?

to prevent hemorrage, try taking nettle and alfalfa before the baby is born. also, after birth you can use motherwort's, sheperd's purse, witch hazel, and lady's mantle . susun weed cautions against cayenne because it slows down hemorrage but does not stop it thus providing a false sense of security.

Thanks!

I'm already taking Alfalfa 3x/day and have nettle in my Pregnancy Tea.

From "Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year":
* Most hemorrage is because the uterus lacks muscle tone and remains large and flabby and does not clamp down and restrict the flow of blood; also caused by insufficient vitamin K, a placenta that tears away, precipitious delivery, a really big baby, and tearing of vaginal or cervial tissue; low hemoglobin is not a direct factor but is of concern becuase it increases the risk of complications if hemorrhage does occur.
* American Mistletoe Leaf: brew at the beginning of labor, drink at the end; quiets neres, stimulates uterine contractions, expels the placenta, and stops hemorrhage

The other items it talks about are already mentioned here. =)

Shepherd's Purse is very high in natural vitK. That's why it's often recommended. Just FYI. That's what I'm planning on taking. :)

are we talking during/after the birth? My mother gave me arnica after I delivered and was bleeding heavily... I too am nervous about second delivery turning out similar.
