Ok, I'm mortified that I'm actually going to type this out :bag: but here goes...
Do any of you have any incontinace issues? I've had to pee more often (obviously since I'm preggo! :LOL ) and I'm just getting over a terrible cold. Anyhoo, when I cough, sometimes I feel like I'm going to wet myself! :shy Also, sometimes at night when I get up to go, when I'm done and heading back to bed, it seems I've 'leaked' a bit!! Oh my goodness I'm soooo very embarrased right now.
Any ideas besides Kegels? (here's another embarrasing tidbit, I can't seem to figure out if I'm doing these right)
Off to hide under my rock now........

With DS I had that later on in my PG. But at the end I ended up getting a cath at the ER several times because I couldnt go.....what fun.
This time around the only time I have it is when im puking......not fun in either aspect. Cause I cant wear pads or liners for very long, I got tons of thin washclothes (the baby ones)put little marks on the corner so they dont get mixed with the kids ones, and use those instead.
Kegels never really helped me with this even though I did them alot.
I know sseveral woman who have the same problem. Nothing to be embarrased about.

I had problems leeking last time, but not yet for this pregnancy. As far as I know, the only thing that may help are Kegels. (And to embarass myself so you don't feel alone :), I found out how to do it after BD'ing with DH; It'd tighten and he could tell so I knew I was doing it right. A less intimate way of testing is if you sit on the toilet and spread your knees a bit while peeing, when you tighten your Kegel muscle the urine stream will stop.)
The joys of growing a baby! It's so glamorous!

I have a urethrocele (prolapsed urethra) as a result of a cytotec-induced miscarriage...so yes, I do have this problem. I wear a cloth pad most of the time. I will probably need surgery at some point when I'm done having kids, but it's defintely worse when PG. Kegels did nothing for it (basically I had to shove the thing back in and kegel it in place...it would stay for a bit, then fall out again...way TMI I know)

I've leaked a few times when vomiting really hard. I also need to do some Kegels - things just feel a lot "saggier" down there than they used to be!

same here with sneezing...and sometimes for no apparent reason. same thing last pregnancy. I wear sweet cheeks cloth mama pads and just change them as needed.
Yup, so glamourous - part of the reasons why I do not feel sexy when pregnant!

I had that problem last time when sneezing - but in later months. Oh the indignity! It is quite common, so don't be too embarrassed. I'll share another TMI - I've been having to eat a lot of bran cereal this last couple of weeks...between being pregnant and the stress of moving into our new house, the pipes got a little clogged. I have to be super-careful not to get stopped up when pregnant! Ick!

I had that issue early on with excessive puking and coughing. I had to make sure I was sitting on the toilet for my long early morning puke sessions, TMI, I know. I just started doing a ton of the elevator variety of kegels, which seemed to help a lot.

I don't have any practical advice, but I know (from frequenting other parenting boards and chats) that urinary incontinence during pregnancy is VERY common. Quite honestly, I'm not sure how I managed to escape it, with 3 pregnancies, 2 of them quite close together! I remember making quite a few jokes about "maternity sized depends" when we were LOL in chats!

Oh, don't be embarrassed hun! As long as dh doesn't say "didja pee" every time you cough/sneeze, you're ok (yes, mine does that to me :irked: ) I haven't hit that point yet, but I know it's coming. Pretty soon I'll be wearing panty liners all the time again. The only cure I've found is delivery :LOL

Yep, I do it too.Its usually when I cough or vomit. There's only so much room in there.I have to remember never to smell something my DH gives me and at the end I wear a pad.Kegels help a little bit too and remembering to just empty a little more frequently.Yes, so glamorous!

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone! You guys are awesome! Ok, so I can barely do the 'standard' kegels I afraid to even ask what 'elevator' kegels are! :LOL Thanks for letting me know there will hopefully be an end to this!

Elevator = the idea is that you divide the Kegel out. So take the squeeze partway (which feels like you're pulling the muscles up to a sort of a "second floor" place), then a little more (third floor) till you've topped out, so to speak.
The most amusing exercise I've read was in Sheila Kitzinger's birth book - she advised to pretend you're "writing" happy birthday in cursive with your muscles. I can't really get much past "H" myself without giving up!

I imagine you're not supposed to wiggle your butt around?? That would be the only way I could do that! :LOL
