I'm hurting SO bad right now. This headache seems to plague me in the afternoons. Tylenol is a joke-doesn't do anything, and DS won't let me lay still. Any suggestions?

I've had some bad headaches the past few weeks, and also had them with DS#1. Luckily for me the Tylenol does work. Also I have accupuncture (though not specifically for the headaches) & that helps a lot if I happen to have a treatment on a day when i have a bad one.
Acupressure that you do yourself may help also ... tons of info online if you do a Google search for "acupressure for headaches", but here are 2 links I came up with in a quick search:
Relieve Eye Strain and Headaches With Acupressure (http://bastyrcenter.org/content/view/210)
Acupressure for headaches (http://www.holistic-online.com/Remedies/migraine/mig_acupressure.htm)

I've been getting afternoon headaches too. The only thing that has worked for me is a combination of:
calories (i usually need more snacks in the afternoon than i realize)
hydration
tylenol
moist heat on my face/neck
I hope you feel better soon! My headaches seen to be on a cycle of some kind where they will appear for three or four days and then go away for a week.

I like cold on my forehead and heat on my feet--sounds weird, but it draws the blood away from your head towards your feet. My MW suggested it and it does help. Tylenol usually helps me a bit though. Hope you feel better soon!
(also...that IMO is what the television is for...I admit to allowing a blue's clues marathon when I am feeling really bad)

I had wicked headaches at the beginning of my pregnancy too. The only thing that helped was resting, lots of movies were watched by my 4 year old the first months of my pregnancy. I had migraines too. Then one day, they just stopped. I hope they stop soon, it's so hard to function with a throbbing headache.

I had one that would not go away and was crazy bad. My MW recomended accupuncture and it worked great!! She also recomended the cold compress on the head with feet in warm water and/or lavender eo on the temples.
Lately I am just getting frequent but not very bad ones, I think I need more water, that is hard for me.
Good Luck!

:hug I'm not in this ddc, but just posted this same thing, pretty much in the March group. I finally broke down and had a little bit of caffeine, but was very happy to see the links for accupressure. Tylenol is also pretty much a joke with me. I'm hoping they stop soon!! I have a 34 month old and a 19 month old, which keeps me from being able to sleep through it (and my stress levels up a bit).

I haven't tried it myself, but my mw suggested smelling peppermint oil. I had a few bad headaches last week, and sleeping with a lavender eye pillow seemed to help. Good luck!!!

ice packs on the head are the only thing that works for me.

Are you under stress? I had awful headaches for weeks. I took more tylenol in those weeks then i took all year I think. I drank a ton of water so I couldnt be dehydrated.
All of a sudden, my headaches stopped after I kicked my brother out. I didnt even realize that sever stress is what was causing my headaches. I havent had one since he left. :)
