I thought this would be a good thread to start where everybody can check in and chat about how things are going, what they are up to, etc.

I'm feeling ok. Slightly queasy, but no real m/s yet. Thankfully ds is really taking to my sleeping schedule so that is helping tons! ohh, and I have a new symptom. Forgot what it's called, but it's where you have excess saliva. YUCK! I've got to find some sour altoids!

I started school back today. Looks like my classes are going to be interesting, but a lot of work. I hope I can make it through without being too sick and tired! My MIL is really helping me a lot. She made D and I lunch today because I didn't feel like cooking anything. I don't really feel like cooking now, but I need to. We've been eating out too much lately. I'll definitely be enlisted help in the kitchen from now on though!

I'm so excited I get my financial aid money tomorrow. I can start working on my dipe stash!!

I'm going to try and break out my prenatal yoga video tonight. We'll see how that goes! D and I took a long nap (about 4 hours :bag: ) so we'll probably be up a little later than usual.

Ugh, today is bathroom cleaning day. I hate cleaning the bathroom. Yuck.

So, what's going on with all of you guys today?

I hate bathroom cleaning day too!!! :gross
I am just tired and hot,no real queasyness today but I ate a banana as soon as I got up :thumb
I had a serious run in with the receptionist at my docs today which made me feel miserable but I called the office manager so hopefully she got an asswhoopin' :LOL it's another story for when I haven't got a babe pulling on my legs and a three year old sticking a banana in my ear telling me to talk to grandma :nut

I'm feeling pretty cruddy today and depressed. I am starting to remember that grumpiness and withdrawal was a symptom of mine for DS. It's hard to indulge these symptoms with a 2 year old.
I have a head ache, and occasional m/s. I am also really hot - like menapausal hotflashes. It makes sense, since it is all hormone based.
I am hoping the blues will go away soon.

It is not just blues though. I just want to be left alone, be quiet and plan. I noticed I snapped and withdrew a lot with ds today, which caused him to be more frantic and needed more face to face interaction than normal. blah

oh mammo2sammo...I'm so sorry to hear that you had such a crap day! I'm so glad that you shared it though because I've felt like I was losing my mind (or really ill) for the past few days. I haven't tested yet but have had some symptoms that I recognized from my m/c, but never the heat! My god! I've felt like I was on fire! I didn't want to ask here because I'd never heard of it as a symptom, I thought I was crazy, I was enflamed!
Also wanted to tell you that I'm from your neck of the woods too. I grew up in Needham (my husband did too) and I always thought that I'd have my babies at the Birthing Center. We live in Amherst now so I'll be here anyway.

I hope tomorrow is better for you, you made my night!

I'm feeling pretty good still, just sooo exhausted! And I am with ya on those hot flashes!! When I go to bed, I'm FREEZING, but during the night and the next morning, I am on FIRE!!!!! Sooo hot, and throughout the day too. I am noticing that smells are much more distinct, like I opened a can of pears today, and the smell of the tin made me salivate soo bad, even though I didn't like the smell!!! My boobs hurt a little bit, but no m/s yet. :(

Mammo2sammo- Hope your days get better girl! There's nothing worse than feeling like that. Hugs to you!!!

This is how I felt yesterday. I usually get a bit of alone time during the day and yesterday I didn't get any! And I really needed it. I managed not to snap at ds, but I was pretty short with everyone else. Especially my MIL who tells long and pointless stories. I just didn't have the patience for it yesterday!

got up at 5 AM and started doing some cleanning. Feeling QUEEEZZZYYYY and my sciatica is already giving me trouble. Although, I hate being sick, for me is good news. Last pregnancy I threw up once and after that I was not feeling pregnant-and it was bad news.
When I go to bed, I'm FREEZING, but during the night and the next morning, I am on FIRE!!!!! Man, I am the same way.... :LOL :LOL :LOL Glad to know I am not the only one! :)

Hey everyone,
I can relate to the hot flashes during the day, "need-a-blanket" cold nights. Just a little light-headed today. Woke up early this morning--5:00am, but at least I was in a better mood than yesterday morning. Occassionally, I wake up grumpy in out of character M & H moods ( mean and hateful), but luckily they haven't lasted long. My four year old son is not used to an overly quiet mommy.

Wishing everyone a great day!!

I don't feel too badly, actually, but as I recall, I really didn't feel too badly at 5 weeks (which is what I think I am today) last time, either. I mean, I did feel terrible, but at that point it was mainly just that I was bleeding so I was freaked out, emotionally haywire (I am not listening to the news about Katrina right now because I start crying, but there's nothing in my OWN life making me feel emotionally terrible), and having bad cramps. No bleeding this time = no freaking out and no cramps = me feeling much better than I was maybe expecting. But I am extra tired, queasy if I don't eat often enough (gotta go eat lunch NOW), and extra-emotional without much sense of proportion.

:hug and love to all you Mamas! I think The Hormones have crept up on me. I wasnt really expecting how I've been feeling but I wasn't sure what to expect. I keep trying to convince DH that I am not really all that hormonal but it's kind of difficult to do in the middle of :bawl jags! :LOL At about 5 weeks I didn't think I'd be experiencing this this early. Oh those hot flashes, they slay me. No, seriously. I keep waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. And this peeing in the night, waking up every hour on the hour, what's that all about? I really didn't think that I could possibly pee more than I already do. I mean, even before PG I went quite frequently, that's just how I'm built. And I always got hot but man! My sinuses are acting up. I just noticed this today. Almost feels like allergies are afoot. And I think some of the smells are just a bit much for me. Oh, and I can't think about certain foods w/o being completely disgusted but no :inthet , :fingersx: just a little nausea, especially when I don't eat, but once again I was always like that. Oh, and the name of the excess saliva condition is called ptyalism. My sissy was definitely not crazy about that! All in all things really aren't that bad, just a little annoying sometimes, I'm quite glad to be in this state, I know things are choo-chooing along. :thumb Ahhh, but what new symptom does tomorrow bring? Stay tuned for The Bold and the Preggies...

I've been tired, hot & grouchy.

I'm not surprised on the hot... last time I was a sweaty monkey the whole preg. And she was born in Nov. I couldn't wear any of the cute sweaters I bought. :( Speaking of my sweaters, I'm on the opposite 1/2 of the year with this preg and I was working. I better go through the tub and see what I have, as I recall it's mostly dressy work clothes.

Hi Mama,

I have been having hot flashes, and that woozy hot feeling I get before getting really nauseated. I also have been having pretty intense cramping.

The worst thing is that I have had some bleeding. It is scant, and brown, but still, I am hoping for some intense nausea to come on to reassure me that all is going well in there.

I am RH neg so the bleeding has been a concern. The MW sent me over for some bloodwork and a BetaHCG which came back a "Normal" number. I will go tomorrow to see if it has increased. What a stress. I hope all is well. I did have brown bleeding before I tested positive with DD1 so I am hoping this is all it is. I am having intense cramping and each time it happens I freak out a little. I need to chill and just sit on this a while, I am hoping all will be well.

I just took a nap, I am so exhaused.

Hopefully I will hurl when I wake up tomorrow :LOL

Hmm... my symptoms are: tired :zzz, hungry a lot :lurk: (say, popcorn sounds good!), and I can feel my ligaments stretching. My regular jeans were snug anyway, so there's no way I can fit into them now. I broke out a pair of maternity jeans today. :bag: I hear #3+ your uterus tends to fall forward as it grows so I can really see this happening right now! :eek Gotta see if I can find some in between jeans. So far, no m/s or anything but I only had nausea with my first two pg and only threw up once or twice each pregnancy. Thank G-d because I'd rather have the runs anyday because throwing up means dinner ends up way in my sinuses. :Puke Sorry... you didn't want to hear that!

I'm with you mamacats and sydnee...nausea waves and exhaustion! I've been hungry every 5 minutes and eating SO much. I've also been falling asleep around nine. Dh and I watched the Nova video about the baby in utero, how it uses 25% of your blood etc...the music they played was very scary! Now dh is calling bebe "the monster". It's been very funny. When I fall into bed at 8:30 he says "Oooooh, the monster's tired"

Also I can tell when my neighbors have had bacon for breakfast, and they don't live all that close! Ummm bacon....

I have been sick as a dog since Friday. Only actually threw up this morning though. I don't think i got enough sleep and that makes it worse. God, I hate this part of pregnancy! This is the part when I always see adoption as such an attractive option. and I swear I'll never get pg again! Oh well, DH said no more anyway!

I made it through my morning class today, but just barely, but had to skip my second one. I thought I'd get out in time to get something to eat between classes so I didn't bring anything. Turns out my morning class is 2 hours long! I just could not sit through another class on an empty stomach. Thursday i'll be more prepared. Today has been the worst day ever. My m/s let up when I resorted to the "oh-so-fashionable" sea-bands. I look very 1985 with my wrist bands on both wrists... especially in business attire. But, I've been having strange equilibrium problems. Today I fell up the stairs because I just completely missed a step. I chipped a tooth on the stair, dropped my lunch and bit my lip. I was in a crowded library with people everywhere. Nobody even LOOKED at me. I hate living in Atlanta. I grew up in a town where if you saw somebody bust their butt on the stairs you went over to help them gather their belongings and to ask it they are ok. Anyway, now I have to find a dentist and get the "why haven't you been to the dentist" lecture. I may as well get my teeth cleaned, but I can't have X-rays or medication, so I hope the repair to my tooth isn't too invasive. Enough of my whining. :blah

Hi, ladies! Back after a weekend away (we told our parents :D ).

Is any one else COLD all the time? I've always been a fairly cold person (I wear sweaters when it's 70 degrees out), but these days it seems far worse than usual.

I'm also having some strange equilibrium issues, although not all the time--just for a few hours here and there--it feels like my head is a little wooly and I'm not moving through the world with quite the precision I normally do.

Mwa-ha-ha, the 'How Are You Feeling Today?' thread lives on! :LOL NurseLaurie, :hug I'm so sorry you had such an awful day mama. All us ATLiens aren't so cold. Being born and raised here I have watched the A go through a lot of changes, most of what I don't like, and the rudeness that now abounds always stuns me. I often complain to DH about how agressive this city has gotten and how it wasn't like this when I was growin' up. Native Atlantans tend to be more genteel and such. DH and I talk about leaving we get so fed up sometimes. But that other part of me has so many roots here, this is my home. I know, crazy. :flipped :hug to you too sydnee. Get it out out, good! I still feel :gross but not as awful as these last few weeks has been, especially yesterday. You guys, I started crying b/c I couldn't eat I was so nauseas, had to leave for work in like 20 minutes, hadn't combed my hair or gotten clothes ready and I was still in bed, could not get up. DH helped me pull it together, made me some toast and ginger tea, got my clothes ready, made me laugh. I barely made it through work but at least I got there. I decided to try not taking my prenatal and I think that helped. I am one sick mama. :sick I feel very greatful for my little baby, just in the midst of the sickies. I'm 9 weeks, 1 day today. Come on 2nd trimester.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I almost wish I was more quesy, just so I could tell myself that this is a good, strong pregnancy. I was super sick from 6 weeks through 15 weeks last time and I don't feel sick at all this time. Just tired and really hungry. And impatient and crabby, but I'm working at keeping that under control. Or at least I think I am. Don't know what everyone else thinks. :wink

I also had my first outrageous sex dream last night. I won't go into detail, but will just say that I told dh that it was something of an exotic re-enactment of how we got this baby!

Speaking of, like I said before, this baby was a real surprise. And the only other thing I'm worried about is that I still can't figure out, looking at my last cycle and the fertility signs I remember having, when we got pregnant. I have an idea of when my LMP started (around 8/16), I can remember one time when we DTD on 8/28, which was something like day 12, and I really don't think we DTD any other time that week. On days 24 - 26, I had all sorts of cramping and spotting, which must have been implantation (I even joked about being pregnant), but that seems pretty late for that.

Why am I worried? Because I'm a freak. :LOL After writing all this out this totally sounds plausible, just unusual. I had suspected for a few months my cycle was getting shorter, so ovulation on day 12 wouldn't be so far fetched. I o'd on day 13 the cycle we got pregnant with DD, so I really should calm down, right? :LOL I WANT THIS BABY SO IT DOESN'T MATTER. I should just chill.

Ok. So now you all know. I'm totally Type A. :nut

:drool ok, so the weird extra spit thing started for me today. :drool

i think as long as i keep eating like a horse i'll be ok. i got a bit of an achey stomach when i was waiting for dinner, so my plan is to always have something in there until the m/s threat is gone. course that means i'll probably gain all my pg weight in the 1st tri...

i hope you end of may mamas don't get hit too hard, and those that already have, i hope you feel better soon.

ugh. Well, life with a teething, nursing toddler isn't making this PG any easier right now. How do I feel?

exhausted
sore nipples (due to teething nursing toddler)
that yucky hungry/nauseous combo
round tummy
thirsty even after drinking water
hair gets greasy easily
more prone to nighttime wakefulness
random libido surges
overwhelmed

That's me at almost 8 weeks...

Ick. The m/s has gotten progressively worse and has officially become all day/night sickness. I am miserable, and have caught a cold. I can't sleep, can't eat, and can't stay home all day. Gotta go to work! I teach at a college, so it's tough to call in sick. Actually, though, getting up and being forced to interact can help me get through it sometimes. I found out tonight that having a few sips of beer really settles my stomach, though. I wonder if I should try that in the morning?? :LOL I think I'm about 6 wks along, but haven't been to the Dr. yet, so don't have an official date, and since the cycle I got pg was the wierdest one yet (only one in many years without a clear indication of O'ing - even the obgyn was confused. . .) I can't pinpoint the actual date. Anyway :blah , I hope we all feel better soon. I love you, little one, but you're already making me :flipped ! :LOL

I'm a total Type A, as well, only beaten down slightly by the basic insanity of any person who will be giving birth five times in seven years :p ...

Baby #1 was a HUGE surprise and was conceived on day 7 (yes, that's right, SEVEN!) of my cycle, the day AFTER my freakin' AF ended! :eek I didn't even think that was possible! Obviously, my 6 1/2 yr. old begs to differ ;)...
So, O on Day 12? Totally plausible! :D

Thank you so much for understanding my neuroses! I know that what happened is that I just lost track of my cycle. In fact, I knew this and had just told a friend a few weeks ago I needed to start charting. We only use barrier methods when there's a chance I'm fertile, and I'm usually pretty conservative. I just lost track, and got caught up in the moment! I'll be happy to tell this baby s/he was made with much love. (To which s/he will probably say, "GROSS, mom!")

I puked four times before 9:30 this morning.
:crap
Had to leave my class (I teach nursery school) to throw up and ended up going home. Looks like I'm going to have to quit. Its sucks cause I could really use the money, but I'm also in school full time and have three other kids, and somethings gotta give...

I'm exhausted and feeling sick 24-7. My poor BF doesn't quite know what to do...this is his first baby. He's stressed about money, but trying to be supportive.

I just wish I wasn't soooooo sick...
I'm just trying to take it as a blessing, and a sign of a healthy pregnancy.

Anyway...hugs to all you lovely mamas. Lets be good to ourselves. We deserve it!!!

Ah the morning sickness... All of my professors and classmates are constantly asking me how I am feeling (as though the green hue isn't enough of a clue). HUGS HUGS HUGS to you M/S mommas.

I've been managing mine by eating Bear Mush (organic version of Cream of Wheat) and taking the Rainbow Light prenatals. I had to throw out the rest of my other prenatals after I threw up Sat morning. :Puke

Glad to hear the Rainbow Lights are better for you. I've been taking the same prenatals since we were TTC our DD and had no trouble with them last time around....but this time....even the thought of taking them makes me :gross.

I'm going to the health food store today to hopefully get some Rainbow Light ones since I've heard such good things about them.

I started the rainbow lights kids chewable this week and I'm SO much better than I was on my other prenatal. My only complaint is that it has some sort of carbonate base I think that makes me bloat and gassy...sure beats barfy though! BTW, my mom told me yesterday that didn't have any m/s with her three kids: she mentioned only ONCE feeling nauseous with me when she smelled coffee brewing. Three very healthy babes too so don't worry about not feeling sick!

Mamacatsbaby- Thanks for the hugs, I need em! :LOL I think that is the WORST feeling, having to figure out what to eat when you just want to puke. :( Hugs right back to you! :love

Kat- I remember feeling like that at first too, with my girls, I was sick before I found out I was pregnant, this time it kicked in at about 6.5 weeks. And the DREAMS!!!! Oh my, I had one the other night that I was arrested and put in jail for 2 weeks for not smiling at an officer!! :LOL

Ksenia and Eorr- :Hug to you both!

Laveneriot- Hope the puking passes soon! As much as we love these babies, it's not right the hell they're putting us through!! :LOL

Me too! Me too! I'm tired and having bizarre surges of rage, but I'm not sick. SO naturally that worries me because oh no, I should be sick if I'm pregnant! I think my new theme song is that song by Kermit the Frog "It's not easy being Green......"

I puke worst the first thing after I get up in the morning. All that comes up is bitter burning bile. So totally nasty. I also think my house smells and am a crazy woman trying to air it out. Now we are freezing cold cause it's 45 degrees outside and all the windows are open. My compost heap has something wrong with it and has been taken over by a swarm of fruit flies. I have to do something about it today and am trying to get up the nerve and stomach to face it. I am gonna go with my little DD for a run though first, try to enjoy this beautiful morning.

I hope everyone has a great day today.

You ladies are too, too awesome. :thumb Troopers we are I say. I hope everyone's having a sweet day, not too sick. So I stopped taking the prenatals and all and I just don't think I can go back. However the calcium/mag, folate and B-6 supplements I was taking made me have that rocks in my stomach feeling big time. It was almost as bad as the prenatals. I'm thinking it might have been b/c I still wasn't eating enough and/or the other vitamins were still heavily in my system. I haven't taken any kind of supplement in a couple of days and am feeling way better than I was. Still sicky, but not all debilitatingly incapacitated. I still need to go to the health food store and find a vitamin I think even though I've been trying to eat greens, fruits, drinking Odwalla juices, eating soups, etc. to get my nutrients, just to be on the extra safe side. I'm sort of, no, let me not lollygag with this, I'm terrified of taking anything b/c of how badly I was feeling. I've been toying with the idea of breaking my regular vitamin in half and taking them at different times but ladies, I just can't bring myself to do it. Last night, Thursday, was the first time I had had more than 2 or 3 bites of something in almost a month and a half. I had an Ultimate sub from Publix and ate the whole thing. :yum Oh and those sex dreams, :blush tee-hee. They seem so real! :blush Anyway and a day, yak, yak, yak. :blah Continue being fabulous mamas. Much love. :love

I am nauseated. I was only having it in the morning and afternoon, not too bad or almost gone in the evenings. Now I am pretty well having some for most of the day - it is still a little more bearable at night.

I am tired and have to take at least one if not two naps a day. Luckily my three year old is cooperating and sometimes lays down with me. If not she will sit with me while I rest and watch one of her shows. I know I know shouldn't use TV to disctract her but well, I feel like crap and this gets me through when I need to do it.

My nipples are sore, especially if anything brushes against them - like my towel after a shower.

I have a lot more discharge too.

I think that is about it except I have had the runs several times since I found out on the 12th. My prenatal doesn't have a stool softner. I don't know what the deal is but it sucks!

I hope you are all feeling ok today!

Oh man, the thirst is insane. I think it is because we are increasing our blood volume.

I am so tired and have to move so slow in order to not get overcome with nausea.

I hit my fingernail this morning and it bled a bit under the nail and I thought I was gonna die. I fell down and threw up. So nasty.

I am lucky though, DP is really picking up the slack and helping me out. He is a great guy.

I was so sick today, but could not throw up.. in fact I have only thrown up once since I got pregnant, but have been so nausus!
Today I was soooo hungry but nothing sounded good except cabbage and potatoes and I had already eaten every spud and leaf in the house so I made this 10 quart pot of stone soup with everything I could find and ate over half of it. I am gaining weight so fast this time, but am also having so many more cravings. I keep 2nd guessing not getting an U/S becuase I keep wondering if I am farther along than my chart says I am. We did NFP and I know when I ovulated, so I am going off of the conception date on that date... but I am feeling sooo pregnant!

Mamacat, you should try papaya enzyme for the indigestion. When we are pregnant our GI tracts slow down. It takes longer for food to digest and empty from our stomachs, predisposing to indigestion (plus our esophageal sphincters are relaxed). OTC antacids don't help pregnant women all that much because they actually slow the process of digestion, which just contributes to the problem. Papaya enzyme will speed up the digestion and help your stomach empty sooner.

I have also found papaya enzyme to help with my nausea.

The kind I have are little papaya flavored chewable tablets. Very non-noxious.

Ugh, I am still sick! I am so tired of this. I'm 10 weeks now, so I'm hoping I've only got a couple more weeks of it. I don't think I can take much more. Everyone in my family thinks I am just lazy and that I should just deal with it. But I just can't. It's all I can do just to take care of DS and get my homework done. Every once in a while I can manage to do a little shopping or some laundry or something, but that's it. Whenever I do actually try to get things done, I just end up sicker. Then I can't sleep that night and I feel horrible the whole next day. This has got to end soon.

You know when you go on a carnival ride, let's say The Zipper? And it's horrible, it's so horrible you swear you will not do it again.

And then 2 years later you are at the fair again, you see the zipper. Your cousin says "Let's go!" and you think, it couldn't have been THAT bad, right?
So you get on. You snap down the guards that keep you from falling out. You feel great! And then, it starts to move.. The steel vibrations resonate through your bones and then instantly, it all comes back... but OH CRAP you cannot get off now, it is moving, you are strapped in and all you can do is wait out the ride...

That is basically how I'm feeling now.
I don't get m/s too bad but I DO get pubic symphysis disfunction...I have loose ligaments anyway, and my pelvis loosens so that the 2 bones grind against each other, when I sleep, when I walk, when I sit, all the time. And last time it started around 4 months. I did not sleep AT ALL after about 6 months pg because I could not roll over in bed without waking up crying. I am scared.
