I was at the chiro on Monday b/c I hurt my back on Saturday and I’ve been in pretty severe pain. I told him that I could even feel pain in front, sort of in the uterine area. He asked how my dd was born and I told him c-s but the pain was going up and down while my c-s was horizontal.
Anyway, he was adjusting some of the bones in my pelvis b/c my pelvis was out of whack and I was pinching a nerve. For the heck of it, I mentioned that my midwife and ob said my pelvis was shaped abnormally – it is sort of oval shaped rather than round and that is why I had a c-s. NOTE: After extensive research, I really don’t believe this but I wanted to get my chiro’s opinion. My chiro is not ultra-holtistic like some chiros that I’ve seen so I was particularly interested in what he said.
He brought out a small model of a spine and pelvis and showed me how the pelvis is shaped. Then he said that when you are laying on your back, it makes the bones in and around your pelvis compress and seem a lot smaller. He demonstrated this with the model. It was almost freaky the way the bones all got in the way. Of course the ob said my pelvis was too small b/c he examined me after the midwife convinced me to try pitocin and strapped me down to the bed with an epidural.
I’m so glad my dh was there for this. My dh has agreed to support a vbac if that’s what I want but I know that deep down he really believes my midwife and ob that I am just not a candidate for a vaginal birth. I think my dh has a better understanding of why I feel the need to have a vbac and why I believe I can be successful.
Just thought I’d share! :D
