We don't know if this baby is going to be a girl or a boy (not planning on finding out, either). We are all set with a boy's name (at least, I think we do :scratch).

But we've been really struggling with girls' names. We just aren't finding anything that sings to us like we did with our first two. Maybe it's a sign this is a boy, but I really want to be prepared, if possible.

So, give me your best girl name suggestions!

Since you're in Illinois and it doesn't matter if you choose the same name as us, here's our shortlist for girls' names:

Katherine/Kathryn (Kate)
Rowan
Eleanor
Lauren
Charlotte

We're using Beverly as a middle name regardless; it's MIL's name and I like it anyway. I also like Aven, but DH used his veto to take it off the list.

Sorry if these are a little conventional and old-fashioned.

Rose
Rowan
Carlin
Ivy
May
Allison
Daley
Della

baby #2 is a boy.......but in case she was a girl this is what i came up with. i had been on a beatles kick and could not get the white album off my turntable......and so we decided if baby was a girl she would be named 'julia'.....its such a whimsical and loving song, and my first dd's name is angela....she's called angie mostly, and she has her own song "Angie" by the Rolling Stones.......I loved the idea of them both having their own special song. if we end up having another baby after this one and its a girl, i will probably name her julia.

so my advice? listen to your favorite music.......;)

Ha ha- see my post from earlier today! We are in the same situation you are, except it's the boys names we can't come up with! I really would love to have a boy, but the name thing really has me. I almost want a girl just so I can use a name I'm really sold on!

i had that happen with elwynn.. i couldnt finda girls name that resonated with me... this time i cant find a boys name, so i fel like its a good sign :) and sometimes you have to know your baby a while before a name works.. i didnt name elwynn for 2 weeks or something, even though i *knew* his name from pretty much the day i knew i was pregnant and i just wanted to really make sure that was his name :LOL

These are great! Keep them coming!

For the record, my first daughter's name is Katherine Anne (so striking those two off the list and any similar), and my second daughter is Emily Rachael.

I like the name Eleanor, but don't know if DH would like it. I also like the name Sarah, but DH has some bad associations with it for some reason.

The thing is, when naming Katie and Emily, I heard the name and said, YES! That's the name of my baby! We had the names picked out within a couple of weeks of finding out I was pregnant. I haven't had that yet with this baby.

So, keep them coming, ladies. I'm still searching for the perfect name!

Well, we have no idea for a boys name. None. I have a few that I feel "meh" about, but nothing excites me. With Ben it was so easy, we had it picked out before I was pregnant, had the u/s, saw the penis and Ben he was from then on. :LOL

For a girl, we will be going with Noelle Katherine(?) most likely. I feel very good with my little Elly Kate, except I just hope that she is a she.

Other girls names i like are Julia, Juliette, Ansley, Delaney. DH has vetoed most of those though. We agree on Noelle, which is a small miracle in itself.

I need girly vibes! (A pre-picked name and no circ debate with DH!)

We're having a tough time with boy names, too. And we know we're having a boy. So far, John or Robert (to be called Rob) are the front-runners, but I keep hoping I'll come across something I like better. There was a little boy at the playground the other day called Hardy, and I kind of like that, but DP thinks it's probably too weird. I also kind of like Jay or Russell, but DP doesn't (though he thinks maybe he could learn to like Russell.)

We've had our name picked since the beginning, but my other favorite was Breale, "bree-ELL".

What we are stumped on is a middle name!!! Soooo stumped! The baby will be Xeowyn, girl or boy, but ack! What to use as a middle name?! I really wanted to use a family name but none of them work right (like Xeowyn Lynne- our last name ends with the "in" sound too so that's just too much "in" ending names!), but my other 2 kids have a family middle name & I don't want this one left out. Then I wonder if I should give this babe a more "normal" middle name in case it's unique 1st name doesn't make it happy. Like, our 105 yr old (!!)great grandma's name is Frances, that'd be awesome to use her name, but Xeowyn Frances? Can I mix such a freaky name with such a super normal name??

AAaahhhHHhhhhhHHH!! I'm right there with you guys trying to come up with something!! :bouncy :nut

I actually like Xeowyn Frances. It works.

We are using Frances as a middle name too. It was my dhs grandma who lived to almost be 100. We are using Gabriella as a first name, but call her Gabi

I am in the same boat! With my two older girls, I LOVED their name - it was, in each case, a name I really WANTED to use. Now, I am trying to find another name I can really love, and so far I can only say, oh, it's all right..... But I don't want to tell her, yes, we chose your name because it was acceptable!! My DH is sure we will be in the hospital with a baby in one hand and a baby name book in the other!!
My two are Alexandra Rose, called Alexi (her idea, at age 5!) and Jocelyn Claire, who likes to be called Jolie. Trying to find a name which fits with those, KWIM? My DH doesn't get it - he keeps suggesting names like Rachel, a nice name but it....well, kind of bores me.....

Ugh, names. We're so hopeless with names.

I think, if it's a girl, we'll probably call her Margaret Olivia (both family names), and her NN will be Meggie.

If it's a boy, though, I'm stumped. This happened last time too -- we had one definite girl's name, and a "short" list of 10 boys names, none of which we felt strongly about! Of course, it turned out that the babe was a girl, so that was okay.

This time, we're thinking of Elliot or Patrick for a boy. I'm waffling on both, though.

I kind of wish babies came with names stamped on their bums, like Cabbage Patch Kids!

This is one of the worst decisions for us. Things like circ and homebirth were no brainers because we could do research. But a name?

We're pretty sure it's a boy and we both like Declan as the first name, but can't decide on a middle name. I like Declan Connor. He wants to use Thor instead.

I've got a list of girls name that I like:
Emma
Madison
Emily
Hannah
Madeline
Zoë
Morgana
Lily
Valerie
Genevieve
Natasha

I'd be more than happy to have a girl instead of a boy, but I doubt it.

**Briar**

I've always been partial to Briar Leigh

I'm having a boy and this will most likely be the last one-- no more trying for a girl :(

I love the name Briar always have and I'm sorely disappointed I couldn't use it, so I hope someone else likes it... I can live vicariously through the knowledge that there is one out there!!
