I had a wee bit of drama that ended happily today....

So I have been madly searching for kids with the chicken pox so my kids could get it and get immunity without going the vaccine route. Apparently they are rare these days :LOL

Well we get to preschool this AM and it turns out that one of the kids was covered head to toe (Obviously wasn't there today). The woman who runs the school was asking us parents how we felt about it and if we were interested in having a pox party. Well my initial reaction was "Yeah right on, finally the kids can get it while they are young!" but then realized that I am pregnant. Yikes. I had chicken pox as a kid but it was a mild case so I am not totally confident that I would have full immunity, and this is a nasty one to get.

I decided that I wasn't comfortable with DD having contact. As it turns out, the pocky kid's dad came down with spots, so they are thinking it isn't chicken pox anymore, but hand foot and mouth instead.

But still, had a wee bit of stress for a moment this AM wondering if DD had already been exposed. When I was pregnant with #2 she got Fifth disease and I had to get titers drawn, fortunately I was immune to that one. When I was pregnant with number one I met a woman who's baby had complications due to exposure to Fifth disease while in utero and the whole thing scared the pants off of me (Didja follow that convoluted tale?).

Oy! These kids are so dang germy, how did the species ever manage to populate? And how to not worry about the zillions of things out there :flipped

Anyhow, the whole pregnancy thing makes me feel like :nut some times :LOL
